Overview of the Ring Road 2 project, Vo Nguyen Giap - Pham Van Dong section
Ho Chi Minh City is finalizing the last procedures to begin construction of section 2 of the Ring Road 2, connecting Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street. The project has a total length of approximately 2.5 km, with an estimated total investment of 4,543 billion VND from the city's budget.
According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the project is expected to start construction at the end of November after the completion of the approval of the construction drawings and the organization of the bidding process to select the construction contractor.

Designing key traffic junctions
To address traffic congestion and improve connectivity, the project will construct two large-scale, modern interchanges.
Binh Thai Interchange
At the intersection with Vo Nguyen Giap Street, the Binh Thai interchange will be constructed as a complete cloverleaf interchange. This project includes a steel bridge along the Ring Road 2 crossing Vo Nguyen Giap Street, combined with a system of underpasses on parallel roads to ensure continuous traffic flow. This interchange is part of section 1 of the Ring Road 2 project and is expected to commence construction at the end of December 2025.

Three-level interchange with Pham Van Dong Street
The technical highlight of section 2 is the three-tiered interchange between Ring Road 2 and Pham Van Dong Street. This complex design includes numerous overpasses and ramps:
- Overpass No. 1: Located on Ring Road 2, crossing Linh Dong, Pham Van Dong, Kha Van Can, and Rach Ngang roads. Each branch of the overpass has 3-5 lanes, ranging in width from 12.5 m to 19.5 m.
- Overpass No. 2: This is the right-hand turn from Ring Road 2 onto Pham Van Dong Street (towards Tan Son Nhat Airport), consisting of 2 lanes and 9 meters wide.
- Overpass No. 3: Located on Pham Van Dong Street, it is 16 meters wide with 4 lanes, then splits into two branches: one branch goes straight to the Linh Xuan intersection and the other branches turn left towards National Highway 1 - Go Dua.
- Central roundabout: Has a diameter of 30 meters to regulate traffic.

Progress and land clearance work
In November, Ho Chi Minh City will prioritize completing land acquisition along the entire route to create clean land for construction. Key areas include the section from Phu Huu Bridge to Road 79 (section 1) and the section from Binh Thai intersection to Pham Van Dong Road (section 2).
For cases where land has not yet been handed over, the Land Compensation and Resettlement Board will coordinate with relevant units to persuade the owners and simultaneously carry out compulsory land recovery in accordance with regulations to ensure the overall progress of the project.

Overview of the entire Ring Road 2
The Ring Road 2 project is divided into several sections. Besides Section 2, which is about to begin construction, Section 1 (from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street) is approximately 3.6 km long with a total investment of over 9,800 billion VND. Meanwhile, Section 3, implemented under a Build-Transfer (BT) contract, is currently awaiting completion of legal procedures before construction can resume. Completing the entire Ring Road 2 is a crucial objective to alleviate traffic congestion in the inner city and promote socio -economic development.
