On the afternoon of November 3, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received Ms. Sara Modig, Deputy Minister of Energy, Business and Industry of Sweden and a Swedish business delegation visiting and working in Hai Phong .
Attending the meeting were Mr. Johan Ndisi, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam and representatives of relevant departments, branches and units.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong expressed his pleasure to welcome the Swedish delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong, and hoped that the visit would contribute to strengthening and deepening the good and effective cooperative relationship between Hai Phong and Swedish partners in the coming time.

Introducing an overview of Hai Phong's economic development situation, potential, strengths and investment attraction potential, especially after the city merged with Hai Duong province from July 1, 2025, comrade Hoang Minh Cuong said: Hai Phong is currently among the leading localities in the country in attracting foreign investment, with a total registered capital of more than 50 billion USD.
The city currently has three Swedish FDI projects with a total capital of over 48 million USD, including an energy storage battery production project. Import-export turnover between Hai Phong and Swedish partners maintains a stable growth rate, reaching over 160 million USD in 2024 and over 120 million USD in the first 9 months of 2025.
Notably, in September 2024, the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Port of Gothenburg (Sweden) to promote cooperation in developing import-export and logistics services. Currently, the two sides are actively implementing programs and activities within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to build a sustainable logistics system and promote digital transformation in the logistics sector.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized: Hai Phong highly appreciates Swedish enterprises with transparent management philosophy, advanced technology and sustainable development orientation, these are values in line with the city's development strategy. However, the number of Swedish FDI projects in Hai Phong is still modest, not commensurate with the potential for cooperation between the two sides.
The city hopes that in the coming time, more Swedish businesses will come to learn, invest and expand their operations in Hai Phong. The city is committed to accompanying foreign investors in the spirit of trustful cooperation, benefit sharing and long-term development, while ensuring a transparent investment environment, favorable administrative procedures and modern industrial and logistics infrastructure.

Vice President Hoang Minh Cuong expressed his hope that, through Deputy Minister Sara Modig's visit, the two sides will strengthen cooperation in the following areas: building green seaport models and zero-emission logistics, digital transformation in urban administration and smart public services, as well as developing renewable energy, electricity storage and improving energy efficiency.
On behalf of the delegation, Swedish Deputy Minister of Energy, Business and Industry Sara Modig emphasized: The visit helped the delegation better understand the development potential as well as the increasingly deepening cooperation relationship between Sweden and Hai Phong. She said that Hai Phong is not only a potential market but also an important partner of Sweden in the field of infrastructure development and logistics. The cooperation between Hai Phong Port and Gothenburg Port opens up many opportunities for trade cooperation between the two sides, while also creating conditions for sharing experiences in green transformation and digitalization, especially in developing sustainable seaport infrastructure, aiming to help Hai Phong become the leading maritime center in the region.
Ms. Sara Modig affirmed that in the coming time, Sweden will promote cooperation with Hai Phong, creating favorable conditions for Swedish enterprises to expand investment and business in the city, thereby promoting sustainable development and bringing mutual benefits to both sides.
