According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the afternoon of October 31, within the framework of the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2025 Summit Week, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the Dialogue between APEC Leaders and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).
Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister to the activity were the Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the APEC Business Advisory Council of Vietnam.
The Dialogue is an annual event to promote public-private cooperation, mobilize the participation and contribution of the business sector to the APEC cooperation process as well as build a prosperous and sustainable Asia- Pacific region in general.
In a report to leaders, ABAC expressed concerns about prolonged trade disruptions, rising protectionism and an uncertain business environment, and made recommendations to strengthen regional cooperation to respond to these challenges.
Based on ABAC recommendations, the Conference discussed solutions to ensure open markets, strengthen the global trading system and promote investment; build a strong and stable logistics infrastructure; facilitate seamless digital trade and ensure cybersecurity; achieve a fair and real energy transition; ensure a sustainable APEC food system; build a data-driven smart healthcare system; and support economies to adapt to demographic changes.
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son acknowledged and highly appreciated the recommendations of the APEC business community and emphasized that APEC economies and the business community need to coordinate in enhancing open trade, sustainable supply chains, and promoting responsible digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that in the context of the global economy facing many challenges, APEC needs to maintain traditional growth drivers such as trade and investment, while promoting new drivers such as science and technology and digital transformation. Accordingly, APEC economies need to focus on three priorities:
First, promote trade and investment among APEC economies and between APEC and the outside region.
Second, strengthen regional connectivity in all three aspects: infrastructure, institutions, and people-to-people exchanges.
Third, leveraging digital transformation to create new momentum for growth. This is the foundation for APEC to strengthen supply chains, expand cooperation and ensure sustainable growth for the region.
Discussing with ABAC representatives about digital transformation and application of Artificial Intelligence, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son also asked the regional business community, a key factor in developing and bringing Artificial Intelligence into socio-economic life, to coordinate with governments to deploy Artificial Intelligence responsibly, openly and inclusively./.
