With only a few months left until Apple launches the iPhone 16 series, the high-end iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will receive the most attention. According to recent leaks, the two Pro models will have many improvements, with the following five upgrades considered the most important.

Camera
As one of the most important features of the iPhone, changes to the camera system are of particular interest to iFans.
Last year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max received a significant camera system upgrade with the addition of a quad-prismatic lens for 5x optical zoom. The iPhone 16 Pro will certainly inherit this feature.

According to leaked information, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a 48MP Sony IMX903 wide-angle lens with a stacked design, larger than the Sony IMX803 sensor found in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This will be the 16 Pro's second 48MP sensor. Therefore, theoretically, the telephoto lens will be the last one to use a 12MP sensor.
Additionally, leaked information suggests that the new lens will be thinner, reducing the size and weight of the camera module.
The A18 chip is more powerful.
The chip at the heart of the iPhone is a crucial part of the device. Each year, the iPhone chip is upgraded to be faster and more powerful, delivering even better multitasking capabilities.
Given Apple's aggressive approach to AI, the changes could be much more apparent. Instead of simpler CPU and GPU performance updates, Apple could make major changes to the Neural Engine.

According to experts, the A18 will likely have six GPU cores and six CPU cores, comprising two high-performance cores and four efficiency cores. Geekbench scores could improve by approximately 10% for both single-core and multi-core tests compared to the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro.
The Neural Engine is expected to retain its 16-core architecture, but Apple may equip it with more cores to better handle AI tasks.
Apple has boosted the performance of the Neural Engine in the A17 Pro to 38 trillion operations per second, more than double the 17 trillion operations per second of the previous A16 chip.
Larger screen
The screens of the iPhone 16 Pro series may be larger. According to leaked information, the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 6.3-inch screen (compared to the 6.1-inch screen of the iPhone 15 Pro), while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch screen, 2 inches larger than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

To increase the screen size, Apple will likely try to reduce the overall weight of the iPhone by using even thinner bezels than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Additionally, the screen could be even brighter thanks to the use of Micro Lens Array technology.
Ultimately, Apple may completely eliminate Dynamic Island, replacing it with an under-display Face ID system.
New button
Leaked information about the side button on the iPhone 16 series has captured the attention of Apple fans recently.
In addition to inheriting the Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro, the iPhone 16 Pro may also have another addition - a Capture button.
The shutter button is expected to function like the shutter button on a professional camera, with touch sensitivity and zoom control, giving users better control over their photos and even allowing them to adjust zoom while on the go.

Furthermore, sources indicate that Apple may replace all physical buttons on the iPhone 16 with capacitive buttons. Using capacitive technology would provide a new experience and potentially add more functionality to existing buttons.
Battery upgrade
Initially, leaked information suggested that Apple would increase battery capacity, with battery cells holding more charge than the iPhone 15 Pro series. This alone would extend iPhone battery life, but it would do even more if Apple improved the overall performance of the device.
Apple may also introduce design improvements, including the use of a "matte metal casing." Additionally, graphene heat sinks could help improve heat transfer from the battery, minimizing wear and tear from thermal loads. Furthermore, new high-performance cathode electrodes will shorten charging times and further increase power output.
Ultimately, batteries will become "greener" as Apple says its battery design by 2025 will use entirely recycled cobalt, and the company may even achieve this sooner than the set deadline.
The iPhone 16 series is expected to be unveiled by Apple this September. According to MacRumors, the new iPhones will support AI generative technology, allowing users to interact with chatbots or create images using text directly on their phones.
