The above information was announced by the Ministry of Education and Training at the conference to review and evaluate the 2024 enrollment work held this morning (March 29).
Accordingly, last year, the whole country had more than 614,000 candidates confirming their admission to universities (more than 57% of candidates taking the high school graduation exam). Of which, the groups of majors and majors with the highest admission rates in 2024:

Travel, hospitality, sports and personal services |

The Business and Management group has the highest number of about 25% of candidates who have entered university. Next is Computer and Information Technology (accounting for 12%), Engineering Technology, Humanities (accounting for 9%) and Health (6%).
By region, the university admission rate over the total number of candidates taking the graduation exam in the Southeast is the highest at 68.28%. Next is the Red River Delta (68.27%), the Mekong Delta (54.39%), the Central Highlands (53.37%), and the Northern Midlands and Mountains (46.65%).
In terms of admission methods, 52.18% of candidates are admitted based on their graduation exam scores and 27.86% of candidates are admitted based on their academic records. About 3.36% of candidates are admitted to university based on their ability and thinking assessment results.
Among the admission methods, considering the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam accounts for the majority with more than 52%, considering academic records 27.86%, thinking assessment results, capacity assessment accounts for more than 3%, other methods account for about more than 16.5%.
The Ministry of Education and Training also reported that last year, 244/322 higher education institutions organized early admissions with nearly 1.9 million successful applications. However, the Ministry stated that early admissions have not ensured fairness for candidates, many schools do not upload admission results to the common system, causing virtual rates and slow resolution of errors for candidates.
In general, the Ministry of Education and Training assessed that in the 2024 admissions period, schools used too many admission methods, causing information interference, and some methods had no or very few candidates registering, making them ineffective. Many admission methods have not ensured fairness for candidates, and schools have not yet evaluated and compared students' academic performance according to admission methods.
