According to VNA, Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim, Director of the General Political Department of the Lao People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense, affirmed that the victory on April 30, 1975 had a strong and profound historical significance, ending the domination of old-style and new-style colonialism in the three Indochinese countries; at the same time, creating the premise for the Lao revolution to win, establishing the Lao People's Democratic Republic on December 2, 1975.
This is a great victory for Laos and Vietnam. Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim emphasized that this common victory is a testament to the special solidarity and close bond between the two peoples and armies of Laos and Vietnam.
According to Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam has profound historical significance not only for the Vietnamese army and people, but also the common pride of the Party, State and Lao People's Army.
The participation of the Lao army in the parade at the invitation of Vietnam vividly demonstrates the special solidarity and close cooperation between the two armies and peoples. This also reflects the maturity, growth and pure international spirit of the Vietnamese and Lao armies, two heroic armies of two heroic nations.
Mr. Eric Coudray, a history teacher in Annecy city, a researcher on the Indochina war and a PhD in contemporary history at Paul-Valéry University Montpellier (France) highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts to rebuild the country after the war.
According to him, the 1975 victory opened up an opportunity for the new government to focus on building a unified nation, gradually restoring heavily devastated areas, despite facing numerous difficulties.
Mr. Coudray also acknowledged Vietnam's flexibility and ingenuity in expanding international partnerships, gradually rising to become a modern country with a prominent role in the Indo- Pacific region. Drawing lessons from the historic victory of April 30, 1975, he emphasized: Unity based on national consensus is the core and most sustainable source of strength for the survival and development of each country.
Journalist Massimo Loche, a former war correspondent in Vietnam in the 1970s and former Deputy Director of the Rainews24 news channel (Italy), recalled his feelings of closeness and attachment to the Vietnamese people. He said that at that time, in Italy, the movement of solidarity with the Vietnamese people and for peace was extremely strong, attracting the widespread participation of social classes, many political parties, social movements, unions and cooperatives.
Journalist Loche affirmed that the victory of April 30, 1975 was a completely worthy victory for the Vietnamese people. After great hardships, losses and sacrifices, the Vietnamese people realized what seemed to be just a dream: Independence, unity and freedom.
Professor Masina Pietro Paolo from the University of the Orient, Naples (Italy), emphasized that in the 50 years since the country's reunification, Vietnam has overcome the heavy remnants of war to become a prominent success story on the international stage.
Half a century after the country was completely liberated and reunified, Vietnam has continuously promoted the achievements of the renovation and integration process, determined to implement strategic breakthroughs and major policies, opening a new era of development. Although there are still many challenges ahead, the achievements have made Vietnam a proud example of success in the international arena.
