Lighting thousands of candles in gratitude at 3 Martyrs' Cemeteries in Da Lat, Binh Thuan, Dak Nong

On the evening of July 26, at Da Lat Martyrs Cemetery and cemeteries across the province, Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union coordinated with units to organize a Candle Lighting Ceremony to commemorate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025).

The program took place in a sacred and respectful atmosphere, demonstrating the nation's morality of remembering the source of water and repaying favors.

Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; representatives of the leaders of the Army Academy, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police; departments, branches, sectors, provincial-level unions, the Party Committee of the Provincial Party Agencies, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the leaders of Xuan Huong - Da Lat, Cam Ly - Da Lat, Lam Vien - Da Lat wards, universities, colleges, enterprises; and 2,000 union members, youth and local people.

Speaking at the Candle Lighting Ceremony, comrade Pham Thi Phuc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong province affirmed: The nation's outstanding children have fallen for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, so that today the country can firmly rise from the blood, bones and tears of many generations.

He emphasized that the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" has always been preserved and spread by the Party Committee, government and people of Lam Dong through practical and specific actions such as: Supporting 29 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, taking good care of more than 19,000 meritorious people, giving nearly 16,000 gifts worth more than 10.6 billion VND on July 27.

However, there are still many concerns as many martyrs' graves have not been identified, and many relatives are still waiting for the day of reunion.

Comrade Pham Thi Phuc called on all levels, sectors, mass organizations and people to actively participate in "Repaying gratitude" activities, accompanying martyrs' relatives and taking care of people with meritorious services.

In particular, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee suggested that the Youth Union should take the lead in educating revolutionary traditions, taking care of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and implementing youth work associated with the model of "Pure heart, bright mind, great ambition".

That is how today's young generation continues the heroic spirit, contributing to building Lam Dong to be rich, civilized and humane.

Although the war is long gone, those great losses and sacrifices will forever be engraved in the hearts of today's and tomorrow's young generations.
