Six expressways are nearing completion.

TPO - The Ministry of Construction anticipates that by August 19th, six component projects under its ownership will have completed the main route, with a total length of 208km.

According to the Ministry of Construction 's report on the progress of construction projects, the country currently has 2,268 km of expressways. The Ministry of Construction and local authorities are currently constructing 25 projects or sub-projects (SDPs) with a total length of 941 km. Of these, the Ministry of Construction is the managing agency for 14 projects/SDPs totaling 652 km.

Specifically, the Ministry of Construction anticipates that between now and August 19th, six key projects will complete their main routes, totaling 208km in length. These six projects include: Vung Ang - Bung; Van Ninh - Cam Lo; the remaining 13km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway; several sections of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway (10/88km); Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon (45/70km); Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh (20/62km); and the opening of the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan expressway. The remaining projects are being actively implemented and are basically on track for completion by the end of this year.

Of the 11 projects/projects totaling 289km invested by local authorities, 5 projects are on schedule. The remaining 6 projects, with a length of 195km, are behind schedule, including: Project 3, 5 of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3; Project 1 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway; Project 3 of the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway; the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway; and Project 1 of the An Huu - Cao Lanh Expressway.

In addition, the Friendship - Chi Lang and Dong Dang - Tra Linh projects are planned for completion in 2026; therefore, Lang Son and Cao Bang provinces are making efforts to ensure the routes are open by the end of this year.

According to the Ministry of Construction, this year Vietnam is actively striving to complete the target of 3,000 km of expressways. In the first six months of the year, the Ministry completed investment and construction procedures to start construction on 6 projects, inaugurate and put into operation 3 projects; open 3 projects for technical traffic; and complete the joining of one large bridge.

Specifically, the Ministry has commenced construction on 5 projects including: Upgrading and expanding several bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1; expanding the Cao Bo - Mai Son section of the expressway; investing in a connecting route between the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway and the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway; National Highway 46 section from Vinh City to Nam Dan town; and expanding the North-South expressway section from La Son to Hoa Lien.

The project to renovate weak bridges and connect them on national highways has been completed and put into operation; 70/83km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang section. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification - April 30th, the Ministry of Construction opened the main routes of 3 projects: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi; Ham Nghi - Vung Ang; and Bung - Van Ninh. In addition, the Rach Mieu 2 bridge was completed.
