The project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions" is being implemented in the province from October 2022 to April 2025, in 9 communes, wards and towns of Chiem Hoa, Yen Son districts and Tuyen Quang city.
During the project implementation period, the Provincial Farmers' Association organized 110 training courses, seminars, and conferences for over 6,000 members; built pilot models for classifying and treating organic household waste; deployed circular agricultural techniques such as fermenting by-products, raising calcium worms, earthworms, and treating stubble in the fields...
The province has over 8,000 households applying the project's techniques. Of these, 5,352 households classify and treat waste at source; 180 hectares of rice fields use stubble treatment products; 4,866 households apply composting techniques from crop by-products. The rate of straw burning has decreased by 50%, livestock waste discharged into the environment has decreased by 40%. Over 80% of households participating in the assessment assessed that soil quality has improved, and the living environment is greener, cleaner, and more beautiful.
At the conference, delegates discussed and shared techniques, experiences, project effectiveness, difficulties and obstacles in project implementation and prospects for replicating the models.
On this occasion, the Provincial Farmers' Association announced the decision to commend the Central Vietnam Farmers' Association for 20 groups including groups of source lecturers and groups of typical farmers with outstanding achievements in implementing the Project.
