This is the first intra-city televised event in Ho Chi Minh City after the merger, a harmonious symphony connecting the past, present, and future, paying tribute to previous generations, and affirming the aspiration to jointly build a strong and civilized nation.

On September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Eighty years have passed, but that sacred moment still shines like a guiding star, illuminating the path for generations of Vietnamese people on their journey of building and defending the Fatherland.
"The Star of Independence" is not only a commemorative art program, but also a profound tribute to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed their blood, sweat, and youth, leaving behind their unfulfilled dreams for the motherland so that the country could endure and the nation could remain united.
In the nation's triumphant anthem, there still resonate the poignant memories of mothers, wives, and children bidding farewell to loved ones going to war, only for joy to mingle with sorrow, remembrance, and gratitude on the day of complete victory.
The 30-year struggle concluded with the reunification of the country in 1975, ushering in an era of independence, unity, and freedom. After reunification, the South, including Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc , and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, united, dynamically innovated, and worked together for development.
In 2025, marking 50 years since the reunification of Vietnam, the official merger of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau with Ho Chi Minh City (effective July 1, 2025) is a significant historical milestone, ushering in a new phase of development for one of the most dynamic regional megacities in the country.
The Independent Starlight Art Program is a blend of modern technology and the essence of traditional art. From the opening, the audience will be treated to a laser light show and mapping performance combined with traditional folk music, affirming that history and the present always go hand in hand in the nation's progress.
Outstanding performances such as "Land of Love" (Trong Tan - Anh Tho), and the "Flame of Independence" segment, with its combination of dance, LED mapping, and lasers, along with the participation of many famous artists, created an artistic tableau that was both magnificent and emotionally rich.
The highlight of the program was the choral performance of "Melodies of Pride," accompanied by a 15-minute fireworks display simultaneously at all three locations, transforming the historic commemoration into an unforgettable moment of triumph, uniting millions of Vietnamese hearts in national pride.
The light of independence is a symphony of national pride, an occasion for the people to reflect on 80 years of unwavering resilience and to entrust their faith in the future. In the historic autumn atmosphere, the light of independence and freedom continues to shine, inspiring every Vietnamese person to continue the traditions of their ancestors and work together to build a strong and civilized nation.
The "Independent Starlight" art program will be broadcast live at 7:30 PM on September 2nd on HTV1 channel, and simultaneously streamed online from three locations: Saigon Ward, Binh Duong Ward, and Vung Tau Ward (Ho Chi Minh City).
Besides the art performance, at 9 PM, Ho Chi Minh City will have high-altitude fireworks displays at three locations: the entrance to the Saigon River tunnel (An Khanh ward), the new city center (Binh Duong ward), and the central square of Bai Sau beach (Vung Tau ward). Low-altitude fireworks will be launched at Dam Sen Cultural Park (Binh Thoi ward).
