On December 18, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province announced that Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam had just signed a decision approving the Thong Nhat Park project at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Special National Relic Site, Quang Tri province.

The project aims to invest in renovating and preserving Thong Nhat Park at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Relic Site as a historical thematic park, gradually completing the infrastructure, promoting the effectiveness and historical and traditional cultural values ​​of the relic.

According to the decision, the Thong Nhat Park project at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Relic Site has a total investment of 80 billion VND, from the central budget, with the Quang Tri Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board as the investor. Implementation period is 2023-2025.

The project will renovate and preserve items such as: Flag Tower, Union House, Hien Luong Bridge, infrastructure (tree planting area, yard system, internal walking path, lighting system, water supply and drainage system...), the office building of the Monument Management Board and the North bank toilet, the reception house and the South bank toilet...

In particular, Hien Luong bridge has a total length of 184m, average width of 8m, will have part of the rusted and damaged iron and steel structure frame replaced in its original condition.

Replace the bridge surface wood with 50mm thick ironwood planks, treated with specialized paint; repair and reinforce bridge abutments with high-strength carbon fiber panels; remove the lighting system and reinstall it in the correct position after completing the bridge structure.

Previously, the project was approved by the People's Council of Quang Tri province to adjust and supplement the investment policy scale on July 19, 2023, and approved to adjust the investment policy on October 25, 2024.
