82 waterways apply 3D technology

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that it has assigned the Waterway Management Center to deploy the application of 3D point cloud models and 3D mesh models to survey inland waterway routes to serve the management and publication of routes .

Accordingly, the Center has completed a digital model of the current status of all 82 waterways of Ho Chi Minh City with a total length of more than 522.8 km. Of which , the total underwater area is more than 5,557 hectares, the total area of the 2 banks is more than 8,880 hectares. The investment cost is more than 11.3 billion VND.

The above technology, applied to existing waterway infrastructure and embankments, determines the elevation and coordinates of the embankment centerline. For river crossing works, the coordinates of the construction location (width, span distance, navigation compartment, anti-collision pillars) are determined.

Particularly for bridge works, the lowest beam elevation and the smallest span are determined to serve the assessment of the scale of the route according to the actual technical level. Wharf and port works on local inland waterways Update location, scale, structure, VN 2000 coordinates and route.

According to the Department of Transport, the application of technology aims to digitize survey results data and integrate it into the city's inland waterway management information system to provide information and serve the management, notification and exploitation of local inland waterway routes in the city.
