Just 2 weeks after its global and exclusive release on Netflix, the film "A Traveler's Love Journey" has risen to No. 1 in the Global Top 10 for Films (English) with 20.92 million viewing hours from April 24 to 30, 2023 alone. The film also entered the Top 10 most watched films in 89 countries, leading in many countries such as: Canada, Costa Rica, Bulgaria, Finland, South Africa, Vietnam...
"A Tourist's Love Journey" is filmed throughout 5 locations in Vietnam such as: My Son Sanctuary (Quang Nam), Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An Ancient Town, Ha Giang , Hanoi. The footage was made in 2022, revolving around the journey of discovery not only of the beautiful country of Vietnam but also of finding new perspectives in herself of the female main character - Amanda Riley (played by American actress Rachael Leigh Cook). The 106-minute film takes viewers along the love story of the main couple exploring the countryside of Vietnam. There, Amanda likes everything to go according to plan, but when she comes to Vietnam, she accepts the arrangement of Sinh - an adventurous guy.

Thanks to Sinh, Amanda's trip became an adventure. He showed her how to bargain when shopping at Ben Thanh market, tips on how to cross the street in Ho Chi Minh City... The love story between Amanda and Sinh gradually blossomed when both had the opportunity to explore the corners of their souls. Amanda realized that she was more ready to accept new things than she thought, through the way the character recorded in his travel diary: " Everything on this trip is beyond my expectations ". She sympathized more with Sinh - a young man of Vietnamese origin who returned to the country to start a business to stay close to his roots. On the traditional New Year's Day, when he saw Amanda wearing Vietnamese ao dai for the first time, Sinh was moved by her. As for Amanda, she found adventure and romance, love that did not follow the beaten path that she had always thought of. When their feelings gradually developed, Amanda's ex-lover suddenly appeared, forcing her to make a choice "one of the two".
Sharing about the records that "A Traveler's Love Journey" has continuously set, Irish-Vietnamese screenwriter Eirene Tran Donohue expressed: " I am deeply moved by the global reception of the film A Traveler's Love Journey and especially the extremely positive response from Vietnamese audiences around the world . According to the screenwriter, although the film appears to be a romantic comedy, for many people it is much more than that. She herself grew up in a context where there was no Hollywood film that did not mention war. However, this film, which is mainly filmed in Vietnam, is not a war story but a love story and deserves to be seen and celebrated by the whole world. She hopes that this film can help change perceptions around the world and provide an opportunity for more stories about Vietnam to be told.
Actress and executive producer Rachael Leigh Cook said: " It's amazing to see the entire cast and crew of the film reach number 3 in the Global Top 10 this week. I believe this represents people's desire to see and experience other cultures and build bridges through a film like this. Directed by Steven Tsuchida, the film captures the essence of Vietnam and, in the words of producer and star Rachael Leigh Cook, she wanted to “send Vietnam a compelling love letter in all its glory, with all its heart and all its humor.” The film involved more than 200 local crew members and suppliers including those in production, domestic tourism and retail.
