The closing ceremony of the 19th ASIAD took place at the Hangzhou Olympic Stadium in Zhejiang Province, China, as a tribute to the athletes who competed hard, achieved high results, and to the volunteers who helped make the Asian Games in China a great success.
Similar to the opening ceremony, the closing ceremony of the 2023 Asian Games did not feature fireworks, but instead used the most advanced 3D graphics technology available today. After the artistic performances and parades, the sports delegations had a few minutes to interact with each other on the field. Next was the honoring of the athletes who competed successfully at the 19th Asian Games. Among them, two athletes from the Chinese swimming team, Qin Haiyang and Zhang Yufei, were voted the best male and female athletes of the 19th Asian Games, respectively.
After the speech of the President of the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA) Raja Randhir Singh, the OCA flag was lowered. And, Mr. Raja Randhir Singh handed over to the next host country of the ASIAD, Japan. They will host the 20th ASIAD in Aichi and Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
Commenting on the organization of the 19th Asian Games, Hangzhou Vice Mayor Chen Weiqiang (Executive Secretary General of the 19th Asian Games Organizing Committee) said: "We have organized the most successful Asian Games in history. It can be said that during the 16 days of the competition, the people of Hangzhou were immersed in a sea of joy."

The 19th Asian Games took place in Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8 with 12,407 athletes from 45 countries and territories. The Games featured 40 sports (61 disciplines), with 481 events. This was the third Asian Games hosted by China, after Beijing 1990 and Guangzhou 2010.
Host China topped the overall tally with 201 Gold Medals, 111 Silver Medals and 71 Bronze Medals; breaking the record of 199 Gold Medals they won at the 2010 Guangzhou ASIAD.
The Vietnamese Sports Delegation has officially ended its journey at ASIAD 2023 in 21st place on the overall rankings with 03 Gold Medals, 05 Silver Medals and 19 Bronze Medals.
Immediately after the 19th ASIAD ends, the 2023 Asian Paralympic Games will take place from October 22 to 28 in Hangzhou city (China).
