Ms. Diep Cam Tu, a worker at Ngoc Tri Food Processing Joint Stock Company in Gia Rai town ( Bac Lieu province), was quite surprised when her lunch and that of her fellow workers showed a significant improvement with five dishes, including braised pork, frog stir-fried with curry, braised bitter melon, stir-fried vegetables, and fruit for dessert. Ms. Tu shared: "In over 15 years of working at the company, this is the first time I've had such a special meal at the company. It's special not only because of the meticulous preparation of the dishes but also because of the atmosphere of the union's lunch."
Normally, we just eat quickly to rest before going back to work. But today, the Provincial Trade Union and the Company's Trade Union sat down to eat with the workers, inquired about our well-being, and encouraged us to work together to create a better working environment.”
Ngoc Tri Food Processing Joint Stock Company in Gia Rai Town has nearly 600 employees. To ensure the health of its workers, the company has been providing meal allowances worth 18,000 VND per person.
Implementing the "Trade Union Meal" organized and supported by the Bac Lieu Provincial Federation of Labor (LĐLĐ), the company increased the meal allowance by more than 50,000 VND per person, surprising the workers who found the meal more complete and lavish. They happily shared their thoughts and aspirations with the leaders at all levels to work together to resolve difficulties and obstacles in their work.
Similarly, at PINETREE Co., Ltd., a garment manufacturing company in Vinh Loi district, the atmosphere at the union's lunch was filled with joy. With over 1,700 workers, the kitchen staff were busy preparing to ensure that employees could enjoy their lunch on time with dishes such as fried chicken, sour soup, braised meat, etc. “During the meal, we were very happy because of the friendly atmosphere and the care shown by the provincial and company unions. Everyone listened, exchanged ideas, and shared so that the union could better understand the difficulties faced by the workers. We will try to be more united to build a more developed company together, which will also help improve our income,” shared Ms. Le Thuy Lieu, a worker in the company's garment department.
"Trade Union Meal" is a program in a series of events celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union. Organized by the Bac Lieu Provincial Federation of Labor in coordination with businesses, this activity aims to express gratitude to union members and workers for their contributions to labor and production. Furthermore, this program helps businesses gain a better understanding of their employees' well-being, enabling them to continue implementing welfare programs to improve the lives of workers, thereby encouraging them to actively participate in production and contribute to the sustainable development of the businesses. Simultaneously, it reaffirms the responsibility of the Trade Union organization in caring for its members and workers.
This time, the Bac Lieu Provincial Labor Union supported four companies with the "Trade Union Meal" program: PINETREE Co., Ltd., Ngoc Tri Food Processing Joint Stock Company, Viet I - Mei Frozen Food Trading Co., Ltd., and Huy Minh Co., Ltd., benefiting over 2,600 workers. The total funding provided was nearly 133 million VND (50,000 VND per meal). Ensuring food safety and adequate nutrition in these meals will maintain the health and energy of workers, contributing to increased productivity and product quality.
In reality, at many agencies, units, and businesses, trade unions, in coordination with the government and employers, create conditions for union members and workers to prepare elaborate and nutritious meals themselves. Whether organized on a large scale or within a single unit, all union members and workers enjoy the meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere, feeling the care and concern of the trade union and employer for the valuable "asset" of the business.
This is a highly meaningful program that improves the quality of meals for union members and workers, while also providing an opportunity for workers, trade unions, and leaders of agencies, units, and businesses to meet, share experiences, and create an atmosphere of solidarity and understanding. This, in turn, builds trust, helps workers feel secure in their work, and encourages them to contribute even more.
