Speaking at the program, Major General Le Nhu Duc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City and Chairman of the Hanoi City Veterans Association, acknowledged and praised the efforts of the Fatherland Front and political and social organizations in Son Dong commune in proactively implementing social welfare activities and caring for the lives of the people, especially vulnerable groups, during the Tet holiday and the arrival of spring.
During the program, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City donated 50 grants, each worth 1 million VND; the Hanoi City Federation of Labor Unions presented 180 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to union members, association members, and workers in difficult circumstances in the commune, and provided 60 bus tickets for workers from distant areas to return home for Tet, totaling 27 million VND, and 150 online shopping vouchers, each worth 500,000 VND.
The Son Dong Commune Fund for the Poor distributed 200 gift packages, each worth 500,000 VND and in-kind donations. The Son Dong Commune Women's Union donated 26 gift packages worth 10 million VND to 26 women in difficult circumstances.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and mass organizations of Son Dong commune have mobilized organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to donate 410 Tet gifts worth 280 million VND to disadvantaged families in villages and residential areas, contributing to encouraging, sharing, and helping people alleviate difficulties and have a more fulfilling Tet holiday.
A highlight of the program, imbued with profound humanitarian significance, was the gift-giving and symbolic presentation within the framework of the "Godparents - Connecting Love" program, implemented by the Women's Union of Son Dong commune in coordination with the Son Dong Commune Trade Union. Thirteen organizations, individuals, and businesses have sponsored 18 orphaned children with particularly difficult circumstances, providing long-term support in their care, education , and helping them to overcome challenges in life.
The organizers also presented commemorative gifts to express gratitude to the benefactors and introduced the "godparent-adopted child" pairs, demonstrating the deep sense of community, responsibility, and compassion.
As part of the program, a competition for wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) and arranging the five-fruit tray for Tet (Vietnamese New Year) was held, attracting the participation of 6 units from various departments, agencies, and organizations in the commune. The competing teams showcased their skills and creativity, contributing to honoring the beautiful traditional culture of the nation every spring.
The Organizing Committee awarded prizes to outstanding teams; held a raffle with a total of 67 prizes, including a grand prize of a 55-inch Samsung TV, along with many practical gifts such as bicycles, electric fans, and essential items for Tet, creating an atmosphere of excitement and joy.
Nguyen Dang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Son Dong commune, emphasized that the commune's "Tet Reunion - Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026" program not only brings practical material gifts but also spreads a message of love and community responsibility, contributing to the effective implementation of the policy of "leaving no one behind," ensuring social security, and helping the capital city welcome the new year in a joyful, safe, and meaningful way.
