According to statistics, on October 4, more than 100 motorbikes were brought to the repair point by people, mainly in Tan Ky commune. Many households brought 3-4 flooded motorbikes at the same time, hoping to have them repaired so they can travel again soon. Due to the large amount of work, the team of workers prioritized repairing slightly damaged motorbikes so they could start and move, and the seriously damaged ones would be handled later.

Mr. Tran Tien, a free car repairman for people, shared: "After the flood, the car is soaked in mud and water, so it is easy to damage the entire engine and electrical system. We try to handle the basic things, change the oil, air filter, spark plugs, clean the engine so that the car can operate again. The highest goal is that people have a means of transportation after the flood. For cars that are severely damaged, we have to handle them later because it takes a lot of time."

Ms. Tran Thi Huong, representative of Vinh Thu dealership, shared: “After the flood, people lost a lot of property, some only had their car as a means of transportation. Seeing people struggling in the mud, we could not help but feel sad. Therefore, everyone helped with whatever they could, some contributed labor, some contributed money, just hoping to help people fix their cars soon, travel easily, and gradually return to their normal lives.”

Repairing a car after a flood is considered a complicated job, requiring technique and meticulousness. Cars that have been submerged in water for a long time are often covered with mud, water gets into the engine, battery and carburetor system. If not handled properly, many cars can rust, break down or get water hammered when starting. Therefore, mechanics have to proceed step by step: remove spark plugs, drain oil, suck water from the cylinder, check the electrical system, change oil, dry parts before reassembling...

Due to the large workload, the volunteer team worked continuously from morning to night, each person in charge of a stage. The temporary repair area was arranged neatly, ensuring safety and hygiene. The team took care of their own meals and daily activities, in addition, there were volunteer groups supporting lunch and drinking water.

The free vehicle repair support activity in Tan Ky commune not only helps people quickly restore their means of transportation but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and mutual support of the local community after natural disasters. This is a practical, timely way, suitable for the actual needs of people in heavily affected areas.
