After joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music , Da Lat not only gained another international title but also has the opportunity to reshape urban cultural life through music and creativity.
While music in Da Lat was previously often associated with tourist venues or seasonal performances, in recent years a new artistic life has gradually emerged. Music is beginning to move beyond the enclosed space of stages to be present in old buildings, public spaces, natural landscapes, and even the daily life of this mountain town.
These include concerts by Xuan Huong Lake, acoustic programs in old villas, art workshops in independent creative spaces, and international concerts held in the city center. There, audiences come not only to listen to music but also to seek cultural experiences connected to the urban landscape and its nostalgic memories.

Audiences enjoyed the music program in a setting steeped in the urban memories of the mountain town.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, developing Da Lat as a creative music city is not just about organizing events, but also aims to build a deep cultural ecosystem where music is connected to urban spaces, creative communities, and local life.

"Music is not just a performance activity; it also contributes to shaping the identity and cultural depth of a region. When old buildings and spaces continue to be chosen for artistic activities, it shows that urban memory and community life are being reconnected through new creative forms," Ms. Ngoc said.
In this context, many spaces once associated with the memories of Da Lat residents are now being recognized with new values in contemporary life. Hoa Binh area, the 3/4 Cinema, and the old architectural villas are no longer just structures bearing the marks of time, but are gradually becoming meeting points for music, creativity, and community art activities.
Typically, the program connecting two cities within the UNESCO Creative Music Network between Daegu and Da Lat, held in March 2026 at Hoa Binh Theater, left a strong impression on the art world. Within the old architectural space of Hoa Binh area, classical and contemporary music resonated amidst the stage lights, old walls, and the distinctive atmosphere of the mountain town, creating a rich and emotional experience for the audience.

The international concert space in Hoa Binh area offers a rich and emotionally resonant artistic experience in the heart of Da Lat.
However, what makes music programs in Da Lat unique is not necessarily the scale of the stage or modern performance technology, but the way music blends into the urban space and memories.
Architect Tung Le, Founder of Dreamers Creative Space, believes that the greatest value of old spaces lies in the emotional depth they bring to contemporary art.

"A modern stage might be technically perfect, but it's difficult to recreate the feeling that older spaces evoke. When art is present in structures that have stood the test of time, the space itself becomes part of the experience," he shared.
According to him, the important thing is not to completely change old buildings to serve art, but to preserve the original spirit of the space so that creative activities can continue to take place within it today.
Along with the development of artistic and creative activities, Da Lat is gradually forming a unique community of music lovers. Not overly rushed or focused solely on entertainment, many programs in this mountain city are aiming for emotional experiences, where audiences not only come to listen to music but also seek a connection with the unique atmosphere, people, and spirit of Da Lat.

More and more artists are choosing Da Lat as a destination for their community music and arts activities.
As someone involved in numerous community art projects and activities promoting Da Lat within the UNESCO Creative Cities of Music network, Nguyen Hien, Founder of Pho Ben Doi, believes that the most important aspect of music in Da Lat lies not in its grandeur, but in its ability to create an emotional connection between people and the space.

Mr. Nguyen Hien, Founder of Pho Ben Doi, is involved in many community art activities in Da Lat.
"What's interesting about Da Lat is that art can take place in many different spaces and still create a connection. This closeness allows music to become a part of urban life, rather than existing only in specialized venues," he shared.
Not only community artists, but many performing artists also hold a very special place in Da Lat during their musical journeys.
Perhaps it is the atmosphere and emotional depth of this mountain town that has made it an increasingly familiar meeting place for many artists and musical activities.
Meanwhile, singer Dong Quan believes that artists' emotions in Da Lat often stem from the very atmosphere and pace of life in the mountain town. According to him, the slow pace and tranquility of the space make it easier for artists to focus on their emotions when performing.

Singers Ha Van and Dong Quan delivered emotionally rich performances at a community music event in Da Lat.
"There are stages in Da Lat that don't need to be overly grand but still evoke very deep emotions. When singing in such a space, artists easily feel themselves becoming one with the audience and the rhythm of life in this mountain town," he shared.
Sharing the same sentiment, singer Ha Van confided: "There were nights performing in Da Lat when the audience sat very quietly to listen to the music. It was this silence that created very deep emotions for the artist."
With the increasing number of musical and artistic activities taking place in the mountain town, Da Lat is now gradually forming a young creative community with new approaches to the city's old spaces.
They tell the story of Da Lat through photography, short films, art workshops, exhibitions, and community music nights held in familiar buildings and locations.

Old architectural structures in Da Lat are gradually becoming stages for various contemporary music and art activities, contributing to shaping the creative musical identity of this mountain town.
In the flow of modern development, many old buildings may no longer hold the central role they once did. But through music, art, and new creative activities, these spaces are being reconnected to contemporary life. And perhaps, that is also how Da Lat preserves its memories, so that old values do not remain dormant in the past, but continue to live with the breath of the present.
