The win over Chelsea was not a perfect performance from United. The team still showed flaws: Casemiro’s lack of discipline, the attack not maintaining constant pressure. But in the context of Amorim being under much skepticism, the image of Maguire holding his head high after his 250th match is especially evocative.

At Old Trafford, not everyone can persevere through the thorny path. Maguire did it, to enter the group of 100 players with the most appearances for the club - far surpassing Matic himself (189 matches) and only behind Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw in the current generation.
