The event contributes to enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries and promoting people-to-people exchange within the framework of the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Indian tourism booth at VITM 2025 was officially opened on April 10 with the presence of Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Mr. Sandeep Arya - Ambassador of India to Vietnam.

During the opening ceremony, the public enjoyed special traditional music and dance performances by teachers and students of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Hanoi.

The Indian pavilion attracted a large number of visitors from the first day, introducing a variety of documents, videos and digital information about prominent destinations and unique cultural-spiritual-natural tourism products of the South Asian country. Many Indian tourism businesses were also present, actively connecting and looking for partners in Vietnam.

In recent years, two-way tourism between Vietnam and India has recorded positive developments. According to Vietnamese statistics, in 2024, India was the 8th largest tourist market to Vietnam with about 500,000 visitors. In contrast, the number of Vietnamese tourists to India reached about 55,000, a strong growth compared to the previous year.

In order to exploit the great potential of the Vietnamese tourism market, the Embassy of India has coordinated with relevant agencies to organize many promotional programs, bringing Vietnamese travel businesses to visit many prominent tourist destinations in India. At the same time, tourism documents in Vietnamese in electronic format have also been promoted.

Notably, the direct flight system connecting 7 major cities of India (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad) with 3 key cities of Vietnam (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang) has contributed to creating favorable conditions for tourists from both countries.

Many Vietnamese travel companies are now expanding their tour routes to India, not only to famous pilgrimage sites but also to new, lesser-known destinations, targeting the need for in-depth cultural and historical experiences.

Promoting tourism promotion and cooperation not only brings economic benefits but also helps enhance understanding and people-to-people exchange, contributing to deepening the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India.
