The extracurricular activity on traffic safety brought a joyful and exciting atmosphere to a large number of students at Nguyen Hoanh Tu Secondary School in Ha Huy Tap ward. Police officers and soldiers introduced the potential dangers of traffic accidents to the students through vivid images, real-life stories, and examples of traffic safety violations committed by the students themselves.

This is the age when people begin to experience changes in their psychological and physiological development, so some young people like to show off when participating in traffic by riding bicycles with both hands off the handlebars, speeding, swerving, riding in parallel rows, not wearing helmets when using electric bicycles, and even running red lights...

According to Tran Phuong Linh, a student in class 7A at Nguyen Hoanh Tu Secondary School, the extracurricular activity equipped the students with knowledge about traffic safety signs and regulations. The vivid images and direct interaction with police officers through question-and-answer sessions created a lively atmosphere on the school grounds.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Huu Huong, Deputy Head of the Ha Huy Tap Ward Police, said: “We focus on raising awareness among junior high school students about the regulations prohibiting the use of motorbikes and electric motorbikes, especially emphasizing that they are not yet eligible to use them. If they use them, both the students and their parents will be severely punished.”

For each age group, the school determines the appropriate way to disseminate traffic safety information so that the children can easily remember and understand it. The extracurricular traffic safety awareness session at Cam Thanh Primary School in Cam Binh commune also quickly received a positive response from this age group.

The children were delighted to participate in games, answer questions about traffic safety, and receive gifts from police officers. For elementary school students, the awareness campaign usually focused on guiding them on regulations such as: walking on the right side of the road, obeying traffic lights, wearing helmets when riding motorcycles, and how to sit safely on a motorcycle. These specific and practical contents contributed to helping the children develop an early awareness of traffic safety.

Traffic law awareness campaigns are a regular activity in schools. According to Ms. Vo Tuyet Lien, Head of the Youth Union at Cam Thanh Primary School, these campaigns are not only conducted through direct talks, but the school also organizes extracurricular activities such as plays and storytelling; integrating them into morning assembly sessions or into various subjects to enrich students' understanding of traffic safety laws. From this, students develop essential skills for participating in traffic safely.

The atmosphere at Cam Thanh Primary School is lively and exciting.

Sharing her thoughts on diversifying traffic safety awareness campaigns in schools, teacher Nguyen Thi Thu Hang from Nguyen Hoanh Tu Secondary School emphasized: “Effective legal education for students requires a gradual, persistent approach. Recognizing this, the school regularly collaborates with the police and local authorities to diversify awareness methods, adapting them to the specific area and age group. Importantly, we empower each student to act as an advocate within their own community and family, thereby achieving practical results...”

Along with awareness campaigns, the model of safe traffic gates at schools and traffic safety awareness clubs are increasingly effective and widespread among students and parents. Supplementing students' knowledge of traffic safety laws and regulations from their time in school is always a priority for schools and relevant authorities, organized extensively, especially at the beginning of each school year. This will be essential preparation for students to develop appropriate behavior when participating in traffic, contributing to building a traffic culture for society.
