In response to the emulation movement to ensure occupational safety and health of the entire Thong Nhat Coal Company, the Mining Workshop 3 recently implemented a training course to enhance safety self-reliance, identify and assess safety risks, and implement measures to prevent accidents and incidents in production areas, aiming to build a safe, sustainable, and efficient working environment.
During the training course, the Workshop Manager and Deputy Managers directly conveyed to the workers content closely related to the reality of underground mining production, such as: knowledge of occupational safety and health, skills in identifying hazards and risks in the workplace and supplementary safety technical measures, safety measures during construction to prevent accidents and incidents to ensure safety in production; procedures and regulations on safety when performing tasks and operating equipment with strict occupational safety requirements; simulated scenarios of incidents and occupational accidents; updated information and analysis of lessons learned from occupational accidents and incidents that have occurred in the Group as well as in the Company…
According to Mr. Hoang Tien Dat, Foreman of Mining Workshop 3, Thong Nhat Coal Company, all units in the company consider safety not only a duty but also a command from the heart. A safe worker is a safe family. Therefore, training is an opportunity for everyone to sit down together, acknowledge the risks, and learn lessons from reality to avoid repeating regrettable incidents.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Toan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Thong Nhat Coal Company, stated: The unit will focus on continuously improving working conditions for employees; maintaining discipline and order in management and production organization; preventing and mitigating storm damage and water bursts; controlling mine gas and old mine tunnels; managing and using industrial explosives; mining technology, electromechanical transportation; and controlling industrial hygiene… All will be implemented according to the motto "Clear responsibilities, clear tasks, on time, on schedule, and with accountability" with the involvement of mass organizations, to ensure absolute occupational safety and health, contributing to the successful completion of production and business tasks in 2025.
According to the TKV Safety Board, in the first six months of the year, units developed and implemented five occupational safety and health plans with a total value of VND 870.64 billion, equivalent to 53.65% of the annual plan. This included focusing on improving working conditions, the working environment, transportation, and movement within the mines; paying attention to employee health care, with over 97% of workers receiving regular health check-ups; organizing training for over 1,600 officials on skills in identifying and handling risks and preventing accidents and incidents; and providing training for 134,416 workers. In addition, occupational safety and health inspections, including specialized and surprise inspections, were also strengthened. Through competitions and focused, creative, and engaging communication efforts, the work attracted the attention of a large number of workers.
According to Ms. Dinh Thi Van Anh, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of the Environmental Company Limited - TKV, the company recently organized the 2025 Occupational Safety and Health Officer (OSH Officer) Excellence Competition. This serves as both a motivation for the OSH Officer network to improve their knowledge and contributes to widespread dissemination of information to workers, raising awareness of labor laws and policies, especially the Occupational Safety and Health Law; and the obligations and responsibilities of employers and employees in ensuring occupational safety and health. It also provides an opportunity for the company to review the organization and management of the OSH Officer network's activities, thereby developing solutions to improve the quality of its operations.
Thanks to the efforts of all units, the entire Group did not experience any Category I incidents, and the number of occupational accidents decreased significantly compared to the same period last year. Entering the rainy and stormy season, with unpredictable weather patterns, the entire Group continues to maintain a high level of occupational safety and health with a proactive approach. Inspect, assess, identify, and implement preventive measures early and proactively; Strictly adhere to basic technical standards, do not prioritize production volume over cutting corners in production processes and safety measures; strengthen education and training, raise awareness and understanding of production managers, supervisors, and workers regarding occupational safety and health; enhance self-awareness of safety, protecting oneself and one's colleagues; replicate good and effective practices in occupational safety and health; strictly handle violations, and reward collectives and individuals who perform well in occupational safety and health.
