Does garlic help purify the blood?
After verification, THIP, an Indian health information and fact-checking platform, stated on September 14th that the circulating information is incorrect . Garlic does not help purify the blood.
The human body doesn't need an external "blood purifier." Organs like the liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin are constantly filtering toxins and waste products.
According to health experts, garlic contains sulfur compounds such as allicin, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, but it does not have blood-purifying effects.
Some studies suggest that garlic may help lower cholesterol and blood pressure when consumed regularly. However, this is not the same as purifying the blood with just one clove of garlic overnight, as is being widely circulated, which is an exaggeration and lacks scientific evidence.
Dr. Almas Fatma, a diabetes specialist in Mumbai, India, stated that there are no herbal remedies or natural treatments that can "purify" the blood in the same way that dialysis is used for kidney failure patients.
While some herbs may support liver or kidney health, they cannot replace the function of these organs in the body or perform the complex blood filtration process.
Maintaining habits such as drinking enough water and eating a balanced diet is necessary to support the body's natural detoxification process, but these do not directly help purify the blood.

The effects are mild and gradual.
Furthermore, garlic cannot clear blocked arteries in the heart. Only medical interventions such as stent placement, surgery, or prescription medication can control this condition.
A 2016 study published in the Journal of Nutrition indicated that aged garlic extract reduced the buildup of soft plaque in arteries in people with metabolic syndrome. However, this effect was only mild and gradual, and could not miraculously clear blockages overnight.
