Impressions of Hanoi tourism during National Day September 2

The 4-day National Day holiday on September 2nd has become a strong "boost" for Hanoi tourism, when the number of visitors increased 3 times compared to the same period last year. Not only exploding during this holiday, since August 2025, the Capital has affirmed its position as a center of cultural and tourism events with a series of special programs, associated with events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd.

Impressed with new destinations, new products

Hanoi Department of Tourism said that during the 4-day National Day holiday this year, the capital city of Hanoi welcomed about 2.08 million visitors, 3 times higher than the same period last year. Of which, international visitors are estimated to welcome over 80,000 visitors, an increase of 35% over the same period in 2024. Total tourism revenue is about 4.5 trillion VND, an increase of about 80% over the same period. Regarding accommodation activities, the 3-5 star hotel block has high room occupancy rates, many hotels reached 100% occupancy on September 1, including hotels: Novotel Thai Ha, Novotel Suites, Lacasa Hanoi, Bao Son, Grand Mercure...

According to Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang, Hanoi tourism not only made an impression during the 4-day holiday, but in August 2025, tourism in the capital exploded with the number of visitors reaching 3.18 million, an increase of 27.5% over the same period in 2024; total revenue from tourists is estimated at 12.54 trillion VND, an increase of 31.5% over the same period in 2024.

The capital is the main venue for events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, so the city has carefully prepared to welcome a large number of visitors. Since the beginning of August 2025, a series of cultural and artistic activities, displays, exhibitions, and new tour introductions have taken place in Hanoi... Notably, major cultural and artistic programs, considered "national concerts", have attracted tens of thousands of people, such as the program "Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945" on the evening of August 15 at August Revolution Square; the art program "I am Vietnamese" on August 17 at My Dinh Stadium; 3D mapping performance at Hoan Kiem Lake...; exhibition activities at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site; the heritage house at 48 Hang Ngang Street...

Along with that, on August 11, the Hanoi Department of Tourism announced 80 attractive and unique tourism products, notably the launch of the "Hanoi 5-gate" tourist train passing through many streets and relics from Hanoi Station to Tu Son Station ( Bac Ninh ); Metro tourist train route... In particular, with the inauguration of the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh commune), Hanoi participated in 2 exhibition spaces "Hanoi Tradition and Creativity 2025" in the National Achievements Exhibition, contributing to attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to the capital.

To keep Hanoi always a quality and attractive destination

Hanoi tourism on the occasion of National Day 2-9 this year showed an explosion not only in the number of visitors, but also affirmed the quality of services of the Capital. The atmosphere of excitement, joy and happiness of the people and tourists when participating in parades, marches and cultural and tourism activities in the Capital spread the great values ​​of national solidarity and love for the country.

To create all conditions as well as ensure security and safety for tens of thousands of people and tourists in crowded areas is the combined effort of all forces, from functional agencies to social organizations and people. On the occasion of National Day, Hanoi organized 15 "guest stations" at many agency headquarters to distribute water and create free resting places for people and tourists. Many units organized to distribute free water and milk to people and tourists at tourist attractions, typically the Department of Tourism coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board to distribute 35,000 gifts to tourists on September 2; the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center distributed water and milk to people visiting the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage on September 1 and 2...

However, in the brilliant picture of the Capital on the occasion of National Day September 2, there are still some images that are not really beautiful. The phenomenon of some shops and cafes selling folding chairs to watch the parades; the scene of people jostling and fighting for seats; or many streets in Hanoi still have garbage and trees destroyed after the parades... have partly left behind some unnecessary "grains of sand".

To serve tourists well during peak periods, according to Vice President of Hanoi Tourism Association Nguyen Tien Dat, during the recent September 2nd holiday, many tourist areas and spots were crowded with visitors, leading to overload, so in order to organize well, tourist spots and event venues need to regularly inform about the number of visitors to have a flow, guide people and tourists. According to President of Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club Truong Quoc Hung, during peak periods, the Department of Culture and Tourism needs to increase propaganda for people and tourists to raise awareness of environmental hygiene, have civilized attitudes and behavior in public places.

Assessing tourism activities during the recent National Day on September 2, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that welcoming guests at tourist attractions and accommodation facilities before and during the September 2 holiday basically ensured safety, convenience and attraction for tourists. In the coming time, the capital's tourism industry will continue to request tourism units to improve service quality, build new and attractive products in suburban areas to expand the space to welcome guests; carry out propaganda on civilized tourist behavior at tourist attractions.
