Vietnam Boxing Federation officially speaks out about the absence of Mr. Liu Xiu Bao

Specifically, due to the prolonged absence of Mr. Luu Tu Bao - the current Chairman of VBF - the VBF Executive Committee held an emergency meeting on the afternoon of September 5th, with 25 out of 30 members in attendance.

Following the meeting, the VBF Executive Committee provided information regarding the matter. According to the VBF, Mr. Luu Tu Bao went to the United States for family matters in February 2025 and had to resolve some personal issues, therefore he is temporarily unable to return to Vietnam.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao will sign a power of attorney authorizing Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Vice President and General Secretary of VBF - to manage the activities of VBF, in accordance with the regulations in the VBF's operating charter approved by the Ministry of Interior . The authorization period is from the date of receipt of the document until the end of March 2026.

Until the President's authorization letter is received, the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of VBF unanimously agreed to authorize Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Vice President and General Secretary of VBF - to manage VBF.

In addition, the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of VBF have authorized Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung as the sole representative of VBF in all statements related to VBF's activities.

In its statement, the VBF also said that it had not yet received any official notification from the authorities regarding the personal activities of Chairman Luu Tu Bao in the past, or during the time he was not in Vietnam. Mr. Luu Tu Bao's personal background and criminal record were verified by the Ministry of Justice , the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before he ran for election to the VBF Executive Committee for the second term (2023-2028).

The Standing Committee and Executive Committee of VBF unanimously agreed that, in the event that Chairman Luu Tu Bao receives an official conclusion from domestic and international authorities regarding a violation of the law, the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of VBF will hold a meeting to request permission to hold an extraordinary general meeting to elect a new chairman, ensuring the smooth direction and implementation of all VBF activities in accordance with the law and still guaranteeing the VBF's operating budget until the end of term 2 (2023 - 2028).
