British officials said priceless works of art, including paintings by famous artists Van Gogh and Monet, kept at the historic Somerset House art center in London, were not affected by the fire that broke out on August 17.
About 125 firefighters and 20 fire engines were mobilized to control the fire in the west wing, controlling the fire in this historic building, more than 450 years old.
In a statement posted on social media X, the London Fire Brigade said: "The fire at Somerset House is now under control and an investigation into the cause will begin."
There were no reports of injuries as staff and visitors had left the building before firefighters arrived, the fire brigade added.
Meanwhile, Somerset House's managers said that because the Courtauld Gallery - which houses valuable paintings - was not directly affected by the fire, it would remain open.
Somerset House, located on the banks of the River Thames, is a former royal palace and now a centre for arts, culture and entertainment. The Courtauld Gallery, which houses one of the world 's great art collections, is located in the building's north wing.
The building's courtyard hosts musical performances in the summer and is a popular ice skating rink in the winter.
This location has appeared in many famous movies such as 2 movies in the James Bond series, "Love Reality" in 2003 or "The Duchess" in 2008./.
