QUANG NAM Miss Hong Kong contestants sing "Shanghai Bund" and invite tourists to taste Hong Kong food on a walking street in Hoi An.

The beauties played the piano and sang famous Chinese songs such as Shanghai Bund (TVB's soundtrack of the same name, starring Chow Yun Fat and Zhao Ya Chi), Sweet Love (song by Teresa Teng).

Many tourists joined in singing with the girls.

The contestants and the organizing committee's crew (TVB) arrived in Vietnam on July 13. They filmed the MV and recorded outdoor scenes in Da Nang and Quang Nam . Before the show in Hoi An, the crew filmed the music video at My Son Sanctuary on July 15.

In addition to singing, contestants make Hong Kong-style food and drinks to serve tourists.

The beauties make egg tarts, red bean ice, and sticky rice desserts. The food and drinks are introduced on the board in Vietnamese, English, and Chinese.

The girls are learning Vietnamese to be able to communicate more with the locals. The group has also attracted the attention of tourists from Japan, Korea, Spain, Germany, and England.

The organizers said the program in Hoi An ancient town aims to introduce the beauty of Hong Kong culture.

A group of contestants drew and printed Hong Kong symbols on T-shirts, selling them to raise funds for charity.

The Miss Hong Kong 2023 contest started in June, with the organizers selecting 17 finalists from more than 150 preliminary applicants. The final will take place on August 27.

On HK01 , Ms. Lac Dich Linh said that in general, the quality of this year's contestants is better than last year. Some girls are both beautiful and highly educated. Except for one contestant who just graduated from high school, the remaining 16 have studied or are studying for a university or master's degree in Canada, the US, Australia,   China.

Miss Hong Kong is the most popular beauty pageant in the territory, first held in the 1970s. Many faces were discovered after this contest, such as Maggie Cheung, Lee Ka-Hun, Anita Yuen, Kwok Ai-Ming, Chung Chu-Hung, Kwok Ke-Ying, Tsui Tzu-San, and Myolie Wu.
