With just over 10 days left until Lunar New Year, many people are taking advantage of the beautiful sunny weather to wear elegant ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) and go out to take photos, preserving beautiful memories of the New Year and the arrival of spring.
These days, it's not difficult to spot girls wearing traditional ao dai dresses "checking in" at five-story buildings with an old-fashioned look, nostalgic city markets, the vibrant spring flower market in Hung Vuong Square, or cafes, historical sites, and tourist attractions in many places throughout the province.
Many customers prefer traditional ao dai styles, in solid colors or with vintage patterns.
Today's Tet (Lunar New Year) ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) is available in a wide variety of materials, colors, and prices, suitable for all ages. For as little as 150,000 VND per person, you can rent a suitable ao dai to capture beautiful moments. Many customers prefer traditional, monochrome or vintage-patterned ao dai made from materials such as silk, raw silk, brocade, etc., and rent them along with accessories like straw bags, wooden clogs, fans, and necklaces. This is also the peak season for ao dai rental shops.
In particular, in recent years, the trend of taking photos in the traditional style of the 80s and 90s has become a favorite pastime for many people, especially young people. Besides taking photos of each other, many young people are also willing to hire professional photographers at prices ranging from 500,000 VND per person to millions of VND per person, depending on the number of people, the shooting time, and the location, to get photos that truly capture the spirit of Tet (Vietnamese New Year). Girls holding vibrant peach blossoms, their smiles as bright as the vibrant spring, make every street, alley, and shop lively and bustling, and a flood of memories of past Tet celebrations rushes back in the recollections of many older generations.
Many people wore traditional Vietnamese ao dai dresses to take photos at the Spring Flower Market - Hung Vuong Square, Viet Tri City.
Along with her friends, Le Thi Kieu Anh from Phu Tho town took photos wearing traditional ao dai dresses at the town market. She shared: “For many years, my friends and I have always chosen ao dai dresses for photos during the Lunar New Year season, hoping to maintain, preserve, and spread the beautiful traditional cultural features of our nation. Not only that, I also offer a service renting ao dai dresses for Tet photoshoots, with many diverse styles ranging from traditional to modern. During this time, my shop rents out at least 20 sets per day on average.”
Besides wearing ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) to take photos during Tet (Lunar New Year), many people also wear it during the first days of the new year to visit relatives and friends, go to temples, and enjoy spring outings. Capitalizing on this trend, many shops now offer ao dai rental services throughout Tet at reasonable prices, suitable for the budgets of most customers.
The ao dai is a popular choice among young people to preserve their youthful spirit every time Tet (Lunar New Year) comes around.
At Linh Giang Ao Dai shop in Tien Cat ward, Viet Tri city, these days there is a huge influx of customers renting and buying ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dresses). Staff are constantly busy helping customers try on clothes and handling deliveries. Not only does the shop meet customer demand during the pre-Tet period, but understanding customer needs, it also offers ao dai rental programs throughout Tet, such as 200,000 VND per set for 9 days or 500,000 VND for 3 sets for 9 days... which has attracted many customers.
Amidst the harmonious blend of spring and nature, the rhythm of life in the days leading up to Tet becomes more vibrant, joyful, and full of life, with graceful ao dai dresses fluttering in the breeze and sunshine as people welcome the new year.
