In a joint statement released after the conference, the trade ministers affirmed their determination to “ensure that trade continues to flow and that critical infrastructure supports the viability and integrity of global supply chains.”
The statement comes amid the ongoing complete blockade of the Strait of Hormuz – a vital shipping lane for energy transport – raising concerns about supply and driving up crude oil prices since the US and Israel began military operations against Iran in late February 2026.
The outcomes of the trade ministers' meeting are expected to contribute to the APEC Summit scheduled to take place in Shenzhen, China, in November this year.
