According to Neowin , the base 14-inch MacBook Pro now features the M3 chip, promising up to 60% faster performance than the previous 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 chip. The new M3 chip enables faster performance in applications like Final Cut Pro, Xcode, and Microsoft Excel compared to previous models.
The new product line includes the first computer models to come with 3nm chips.
For the more demanding users, Apple also introduced the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. Of these, the M3 Pro offers up to 40% faster performance than the 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip. Photoshop filters run up to 3 times faster, while DNA sequencing is accelerated up to 20 times compared to Macs using Intel processors.
The top-of-the-line M3 Max delivers up to 11 times the performance of Intel Macs and twice the power of a 16-inch MacBook Pro using the M1 Max chip. MATLAB emulation is 5.5 times faster and Redshift rendering is 5.3 times faster, according to Apple benchmarks. Users can choose M3 Max system configurations with up to 128 GB of built-in memory.
All new MacBook Pro models feature improved graphics performance thanks to advancements in GPU architecture. This is also the first time MacBooks have offered hardware-based ray tracing, resulting in more realistic graphics for gaming.
Key hardware features on the new MacBook lineup
The high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, equipped with the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, will have a new Space Black color option in addition to the silver one. All models feature Liquid Retina XDR display technology, a 1080p webcam, and premium speakers, just like their predecessors. The starting price for the MacBook Pro M3 is $1,499 when it goes on sale in early November.
