The reason for the increase in revenue but the decrease in profit is understood to be due to Apple being affected by a one-time charge of $10.2 billion due to tax issues in the European Union. Without the one-time charge, the company's profit would have increased 12% compared to the same period last year.
Gross profit margin for the quarter was 46.2%, up from the same quarter last year (45.2%).

The 2024 fiscal year results show revenue of $391 billion and net profit of $93.7 billion, compared to revenue of $383.3 billion and net profit of $97 billion in fiscal year 2023.
