Launched in 2020, Apple's AirPods Max over-ear headphones are still highly regarded for their sound quality, but they lag behind the company's more compact models in terms of smart features. On the evening of March 16th, Apple upgraded this product with the AirPods Max 2. The product has a similar design to its predecessor, with upgrades mainly focusing on hardware, including the H2 chip, improved active noise cancellation, and a range of smart features.

According to Apple, the new audio processing algorithm on AirPods Max 2 improves active noise cancellation by 1.5 times compared to the previous generation. This enhances the ability to eliminate background noise such as airplane or train engine sounds, helping users maintain focus.

The transparency mode on AirPods Max 2 also works better thanks to a new array of microphones and processing algorithms, resulting in a more natural sound experience when listening to ambient noise.

According to Apple, AirPods Max 2 feature a new amplifier that delivers clearer sound. The quality of content supporting spatial audio effects has also been improved.

AirPods Max 2 support 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless music formats when using a USB-C cable. In addition to sound quality, the wired connection also offers lower latency, improving performance in applications like Logic Pro with content that supports Personalized Spatial Audio.

For the average user, AirPods Max 2 offer lower latency when connected wirelessly, making them suitable for gaming via Game Mode on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

The power of the H2 chip allows Apple to integrate a range of smart features into AirPods Max 2, features that have actually appeared on some models such as AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3.

First is Adaptive Audio, which allows the headphones to automatically adjust noise cancellation and transparency levels based on the surrounding environment. Meanwhile, Conversation Awareness automatically reduces music volume and enhances voice when the user is talking.

Next, Voice Isolation supports noise filtering during calls or recordings. Particularly noteworthy is Live Translation, which allows for real-time conversation translation thanks to Apple Intelligence. Users can also remotely control photo and video capture via the Digital Crown on the headset.

Apple also targets AirPods Max 2 towards content creators with its "studio-quality" recording capabilities, helping to capture more natural-sounding voices during interviews or podcasts.

With Loud Sound Reduction, the headphones can automatically reduce loud ambient sounds to protect hearing. Meanwhile, Personalized Volume automatically adjusts the volume based on the user's habits, in addition to the ability to interact with Siri through head gestures.

AirPods Max 2 offer up to 20 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation and Spatial Audio enabled. When used with Apple devices, they support automatic device switching and audio sharing with other AirPods.

The product is a long-awaited update, available in five color options: midnight gray, starlight, blue, purple, and orange. In Vietnam, users can pre-order AirPods Max 2 from March 25th, with expected delivery in early April at a price of 15 million VND.
