Tango is a dance genre that combines music and dance that originated in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay, and then spread to other countries around the world. With a harmonious combination of sophisticated music and emotional lyrics, Tango has captured the hearts of the Argentine people and has continued to grow strongly over time. Now, Tango is not only a dance but also a living symbol of the culture of this second largest country in South America.

At a press conference on October 2, Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Marcos A.Bednarski said that in response to Argentina's National Tango Day, the Argentine Embassy in Vietnam will organize a Tango performance at the National Library of Vietnam in Hanoi on the evening of December 11.
Since 1977, Argentina has chosen December 11th every year as Argentina National Tango Day to celebrate the birthdays of famous Tango singer Carlos Gardel and musician Julio de Caro. Ambassador Marcos A.Bednarski said that the idea of organizing the first Tango performance in Vietnam on the occasion of Argentina National Tango Day originated from his unexpected passing by the park and seeing people excited and engrossed in the Tango dance.
Ambassador Marcos A.Bednarski also expressed his surprise and impression when witnessing many Vietnamese people loving and performing Tango. "We will continue to promote this dance in Vietnam," Ambassador Marcos A.Bednarski emphasized.

It is known that in the Tango performance program, the Argentine Embassy also donated many Tango dance images to the National Library of Vietnam for display purposes.
Providing more information about the achievements of dancer Alice Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, who, along with Filipino male dancer Joselito Canilo Serentas, was granted a special place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 World Tango Championship (Mundial de Tango) held in Argentina last August, Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski said that the Mundial de Tango, held annually in the capital city of Buenos Aires (Argentina), is an international art and sports event that brings together thousands of dancers from all over the world. This is not only a competition but also a cultural festival that lasts for several weeks with more than 2,000 artists contributing more than 500 activities such as concerts, classes, and workshops at iconic locations in the city.
When sharing about her participation in the Mundial de Tango competition, dancer Alice Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong said she hopes to receive support and cooperation from the Argentine Embassy to make Tango one of the vibrant, profound and sustainable art forms in Vietnam.
