Aston Villa buy Asensio outright

Marco Asensio convinced the Aston Villa board.

Aston Villa midfielder Asensio's loan deal with Paris Saint-Germain expires after the club's final two Premier League games of the season, against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Therefore, the Villa Park team has contacted PSG to buy the player. The transfer fee is said to be around 15 million euros, equivalent to 12.5 million pounds.

Asensio will sign a three-year contract with Aston Villa. PSG are allowing Asensio to leave on a cheap note, as his contract in the French capital is due to expire in just one year. Asensio is also keen to stay at Villa long-term and work under Emery.

The Spaniard has made an impressive start to the year for Villa, scoring twice in a comeback win over Chelsea at Villa Park in February, and just days later, netting in an FA Cup demolition of Championship side Cardiff City.

Asensio also contributed three goals in the two legs of the Champions League round of 16 against Club Brugge. With eight goals in 19 games for Villa, Asensio has convinced coach Unai Emery and the club's board.

However, apart from Asensio, Aston Villa will be cautious in the transfer market this summer, as the club is facing financial difficulties. If they cannot play in the Champions League next season, the club will be unlikely to be able to buy out this season's loan deals such as Marcus Rashford and Axel Disasi.
