AWS Announces New AI Initiatives at New York Summit 2025

At the recent AWS Summit New York 2025 event, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a series of important innovations to help organizations and businesses build and deploy artificial intelligence agents (AI agents) securely at scale.

These new innovations include Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, new AI agents and AI tools on AWS Marketplace, and Nova customization on SageMaker AI.

Specifically, at the event, AWS announced a series of new innovations including: the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore platform with 7 new core services that enable organizations to deploy and operate secure AI agents across the enterprise. New services on AWS Marketplace help businesses find, purchase and deploy AI agents and AI tools from leading providers in the market.

AWS also announced plans to invest an additional $100 million in the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center to accelerate agentic AI development and deployment. In addition, new Amazon Nova customization features enable customers to develop applications/services on demand with greater precision and flexibility.

AWS's biggest announcement is Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, which enables customers to securely deploy and operate AI agents at scale.

AI agents – software systems that proactively use AI to reason, plan, and adapt to complete tasks – will dramatically boost innovation and productivity across all industries, said Swami Sivasubramanian, AWS Vice President of Agentic AI.

“This is a revolution in many areas,” said Mr. Sivasubramanian. “It completely changes the way software is built, but it also brings new challenges in deployment and operations. And most importantly, it could change the way software interacts with the world — and the way we interact with software.”

Kiro is a new IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for developers that simplifies application development processes by working closely with AI agents in software development projects. With Kiro, developers can not only program as usual, but also take advantage of features such as specs and hooks, which allow them to use agents to write detailed plans and automatically trigger workflows such as running tests or generating documentation.

TwelveLabs AI models are now available on Amazon Bedrock. Customers can now explore information and interact with videos almost instantly through natural language prompts, all with AWS ensuring security, privacy, and high performance. AWS is the first cloud provider to integrate TwelveLabs models. Additionally, Meta's Llama 4 models are now available on Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker JumpStart.

AWS also announced updates to Strands Agent, a new open-source SDK for building AI systems where multiple AI agents work together to handle complex tasks. This technology reduces deployment time from months to hours, allowing businesses to build teams of AI agents that work in unison to respond to customer requests, analyze data, and perform other complex tasks.

At the same time, AWS introduced the AWS AI League initiative, creating a competitive playground for developers to solve real-world problems with generative AI solutions, thereby honing essential skills to drive innovation within their organizations.

The program offers up to $2 million in AWS credits to developers for hands-on experience, from fine-tuning and customizing models to writing optimal prompts. Winners will win an all-expenses-paid trip to AWS re:Invent and cash prizes.

On this occasion, AWS also introduced 8 more game-based training courses to improve cloud skills. Research shows that highly interactive game-based learning absorbs knowledge better and more effectively.
