Some details on the face are also damaged. This is a very rare work of Cham sculpture dating from the late 8th and early 9th centuries.
In the early 20th century, French archaeologists found a set of jewelry in tower C7 near tower C1 where the statue was found. The gold jewelry, weighing 1.5 kg, may have been used to adorn the god during the sacrifice (the statue's ears have holes, possibly for wearing jewelry).
