Bac Ai focuses on investing in rural transport systems and intra-field irrigation.

In order to gradually improve the rural transport system and internal irrigation to ensure the criteria for new rural construction, in recent times, Bac Ai district has directed specialized departments, offices, and People's Committees of communes to review and propose routes that need priority investment and upgrading, thanks to which a number of interconnected rural transport routes have been formed in the district, well serving the travel and freight transport needs of the people.

Regarding the internal irrigation infrastructure, the district's policy focuses on synchronous implementation in a multi-purpose direction, focusing on upgrading and expanding the system of canals to meet the production needs of the people. To develop the rural transport system and internal irrigation in the area, in addition to the support capital from the central government and the province, the district also proactively calls for and mobilizes investment capital from units and enterprises located in the area to build, upgrade and expand. Although it is a mountainous district with many difficulties, with more than 90% of ethnic minorities living, but with the flexibility and diversity in propaganda work, joining hands to build welfare works that have been widely responded by the people, creating a widespread spread in the community. Typically, in Phuoc Chinh commune, based on the planning of rural traffic infrastructure and internal irrigation in the new rural construction project, in addition to the State's support capital, the locality actively mobilized people to work together to shorten the time to complete these two criteria. Ms. Chamaléa Thi Nhan, Secretary of the Party Cell and Head of the Suoi Kho Village Management Board, shared: Through propaganda and mobilization, people are aware that building roads and canals is for the benefit of the village and the neighborhood, so they have received high consensus. Up to now, people have voluntarily contributed money and hundreds of working days to concrete more than 2.3km of rural traffic roads, solidify nearly 1km of internal canals and other social welfare works.

In the period of 2020-2025, Bac Ai district has mobilized over 3,384 billion VND to invest in infrastructure. Of which, more than 64km of rural roads were built and upgraded, with a cost of 211 billion VND, raising the rate of hardening rural roads in the area to 100%. Along with that, the irrigation system has been invested quite completely, with 5 freshwater reservoirs, with a design capacity of 302 million m3, a system of level 2, level 3 and over-level canals with a total length of more than 138km; contributing to stabilizing irrigation water for 12,700 hectares of crops.

Comrade Ngo Thanh Lam, Vice Chairman of Bac Ai District People's Committee, said: Through review, the locality has completed the criteria on traffic and irrigation in new rural construction. After the roads and irrigation works are completed and put into use, the district directs specialized departments and communes to develop management regulations; at the same time, each year, a portion of the budget is allocated for maintenance, ensuring effectiveness and long-term use.
