(Social Welfare) - Along with the task of caring for, managing, and nurturing social welfare beneficiaries, the Bac Kan Provincial Comprehensive Social Welfare Facility also always pays attention to building and protecting a healthy, green, clean, and beautiful living environment, contributing to improving the quality of care for the beneficiaries there.

Maintaining environmental hygiene is an important factor.

Over the years, the Bac Kan Provincial Comprehensive Social Welfare Center has done a good job of nurturing and caring for social welfare beneficiaries, including people with disabilities, lonely elderly people, disabled people without support, and orphaned children with particularly difficult circumstances. In addition, the Center has also implemented programs to prevent and treat mental disorders, and provide social work services to these beneficiaries and the community, creating peace of mind and trust for those receiving treatment and contributing to ensuring social security policies in the province. To achieve these results, besides the dedication of the Center's staff, the Bac Kan Provincial Comprehensive Social Welfare Center has also paid special attention to environmental factors and landscaping.

To date, the facility is caring for 85 individuals. These include 33 individuals with mental disabilities, 15 elderly people who are alone and without support, and 37 orphaned children in particularly difficult circumstances. Due to the unique nature of the facility, the individuals under care have special circumstances, are of various ages, and many require in-room care and services. Therefore, cleaning, changing clothes, bathing, providing medical care, and assisting with rehabilitation are quite demanding tasks, resulting in a significant amount of daily waste. This necessitates appropriate waste disposal solutions that meet national environmental standards and technical regulations.

The individuals undergoing rehabilitation also participate in cleaning and sweeping the grounds at the facility.

A green and clean environment helps improve the quality of life.

Through agency meetings, youth union activities, and other forms such as Facebook and Zalo, the grassroots trade union has fully disseminated and explained to all civil servants, employees, and workers the contents of the Environmental Protection Law and the harmful effects of using plastic bags and plastic bottles. As a result, in daily activities, the use of plastic bags for food has been minimized, and plastic bottles and cups for drinking water have been avoided. Instead, glass, ceramic, and metal bottles and cups are used.

Currently, the Bac Kan Provincial Comprehensive Social Welfare Center has 11 residential areas with many spacious rooms, including 2 administrative buildings, 7 residential buildings, 1 medical facility, rehabilitation and psychological therapy center, and 1 kitchen and dining area. In addition, there are areas for recreation and sports activities.

To ensure the facility's grounds remain clean and safe, the Trade Union also launched a competition among departments and zones to improve sanitation, sweeping, and planting of flowerbeds and ornamental trees. The administrative office and housing for those being cared for, the staff's rest rooms, the kitchen, dining room, and the recreation and sports training areas are regularly cleaned and tidied, free of trash and unpleasant odors. In the production area, the livestock pens are built separately and have a waste disposal system, ensuring hygiene in the pens meets national environmental standards and technical regulations.

In previous years, the road leading to the agency was muddy, but after repairs, the agency now has a concrete road from the gate all the way to the buildings. The drainage system is also regularly cleaned by the departments to prevent mud and garbage from accumulating. Pedestrian walkways within the grounds are furnished with benches, and trash cans are placed at public areas. The surrounding landscape is planted with shade trees, fruit trees, and seasonal vegetables, creating a cool, green space and a source of nutritious food, helping social welfare beneficiaries relax and rest peacefully.

To prevent the spread of dengue fever, which is showing signs of spreading in some provinces and cities, the health department of the facility has maintained mosquito spraying twice a year, while also disseminating information on measures to prevent mosquito breeding, eliminate mosquito larvae, maintain hygiene in living spaces, and use mosquito nets while sleeping.

In 2023, in response to the movement launched by superiors and the unit to celebrate major national holidays, the specialized departments of the Bac Kan Provincial Comprehensive Social Welfare Center registered to work in accordance with President Ho Chi Minh's teachings on "Building a green, clean, and beautiful movement at the agency." They committed to competing in maintaining general hygiene, encouraging collectives and individuals to implement measures and initiatives in environmental protection linked to the "National Unity in Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement, and mobilizing staff and beneficiaries within the unit to participate... This is one of the important factors that positively impacts the quality of care and nurturing for social welfare beneficiaries, helping to alleviate their sorrows and open up a better future. In addition, staff and workers have become more attached to the unit, considering it their home, and have demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility, successfully completing all assigned tasks.
