On the evening of July 31 and the morning of August 1, heavy rain continued to fall in the commune, causing the old landslide at Km29 to expand; a large amount of soil and rock slid down the road, obstructing traffic.
Tam Tien Commune People's Committee reported to the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and the Bac Ninh Provincial Traffic and Agriculture Project Management Board No. 1 to take remedial and handling measures.
Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung, Director of the Board, said that to ensure traffic safety for the routes, especially at landslide sites, immediately after receiving the information, the Board sent human resources and machinery to the scene to collect soil and rocks to the staging area. By 11 o'clock the same day, the landslide soil and rocks had basically been cleared, and vehicles were able to circulate safely.
Authorities mobilized vehicles to focus on troubleshooting. |
Provincial Road 294B is a vital traffic project connecting Bac Ninh province with Thai Nguyen province, helping to shorten travel time and create momentum to promote socio -economic development. This route also connects industrial parks, clusters, and tourist attractions between the two provinces, so the daily traffic volume of people and vehicles is very large. Currently, the landslide site continues to be at risk of landslides, so if not promptly repaired, it will be very dangerous for people and vehicles.
Vehicles are now able to pass through the area. |
Tam Tien Commune has stretched ropes and posted warning signs in dangerous areas to help people easily observe and proactively prevent and avoid. However, to ensure safety, it is recommended that agencies and functional units take measures to thoroughly handle landslides.
Currently, the North has entered the rainy and stormy season, the weather in the province is forecast to continue to be complicated, with the risk of landslides in areas with steep mountainous terrain, near rivers, streams, and weak ground.
In the face of the above situation, the Department of Construction is drafting a document to advise the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to consider issuing a decision to declare an emergency situation; ordering the construction of emergency works to repair and overcome the consequences of natural disasters at some landslide locations, ensuring traffic safety and smoothness on Provincial Road 294B.
