Bac Ninh: E10 biofuel will be widely available from June 1st.

BAC NINH - E10 bioethanol fuel will be introduced for sale across Bac Ninh province from June 1, 2026, replacing traditional mineral gasoline in order to protect the environment sustainably.

In accordance with Circular No. 50/2025/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade stipulating the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels in Vietnam and Directive No. 07/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on promoting the production, blending, distribution and use of biofuels, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has issued numerous documents directing departments, localities, and businesses to proactively implement comprehensive solutions to ensure the transition roadmap proceeds stably and effectively.

According to regulations, from June 1, 2026, traditional unleaded gasoline will be blended into E10 bioethanol gasoline for use in gasoline engines nationwide. E5RON92 gasoline will continue to be sold until December 31, 2030, to allow people and businesses more time to adapt to the fuel transition.

Currently, the province has 3 petroleum depots with a total capacity of over 33,000 m³, including: the commercial downstream depot of Hai Linh Bac Ninh One-Member Limited Liability Company in Tan Chi commune with a capacity of 24,000 m³; the internal depot of Petrolimex Bac Ninh One-Member Limited Liability Company in Bac Giang ward with a capacity of 4,850 m³; and the internal depot of Hanoi Petroleum and Gas Joint Stock Company in Luc Nam commune with a capacity of 4,500 m³.

In addition, the province has 465 retail gasoline stations distributed across communes and wards, meeting the production and consumption needs of people and businesses. As of May 22nd, more than 50% of gasoline stations and retail outlets in the province have started selling E10 bioethanol gasoline; the goal is to have 100% of gasoline stations and retail outlets in the province selling E10 bioethanol gasoline by June 1st, as stipulated by the Government .

To meet the requirements of the transition, petroleum businesses are proactively reviewing and upgrading their storage tanks, pumps, pipelines, and related technical conditions to ensure that the storage, preservation, and distribution of biofuels comply with technical standards and regulations.

Mr. Dao Xuan Lan, Deputy Head of Business Department, Petrolimex Bac Ninh One-Member Limited Liability Company, said: “Currently, the company has 64 retail gasoline stations and 45 franchised merchants with 46 retail gasoline stations and points of sale. To date, 100% of the company's stations have implemented the sale of E10 gasoline; 30 stores and points of sale of franchised merchants also conduct business with this type of fuel.”

According to assessments by relevant authorities, E10 bioethanol is a fuel blend of mineral gasoline and fuel ethanol, with an ethanol content of approximately 10%. The use of bioethanol helps reduce harmful emissions into the environment, improve air quality, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and promote the development of renewable energy.

In recent days, the dissemination of information about the benefits of E10 bioethanol has been intensified by relevant agencies, localities, and businesses through local radio stations, online newspapers, social media, and directly at gas stations, aiming to help people better understand the quality, safety, and efficiency of this fuel.

Thanks to this, people in the province are gradually switching to using E10 bioethanol fuel. Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, a driver providing transportation services in Vo Cuong ward, shared: “My biggest concern is fuel quality, stable vehicle operation, and a guaranteed continuous supply. I have used E10 bioethanol fuel twice recently and found that my vehicle runs smoothly and safely, so I will continue to use it…”

Alongside public awareness campaigns, relevant agencies are strengthening inspections and monitoring of the implementation of the biofuel blending roadmap at gasoline and diesel fuel businesses; closely tracking market supply and demand to promptly advise on solutions to ensure a stable supply.

With proactive preparation from all levels, sectors, and the business community, Bac Ninh is gradually completing the necessary conditions to comprehensively implement the business of E10 bioethanol fuel throughout the province from June 1, 2026. This is an important step to promote the use of clean energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and move towards the goal of green and sustainable development.
