According to the aggregated data for the first 8 months of 2023 just announced by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Bamboo Airways continues to have the most on-time flights and the fewest delays in the industry.

Specifically, Bamboo Airways' on-time performance (OTP) rate is 92.7%, higher than the industry average of 85.2%. Next are Vasco and Vietravel with on-time rates of 91% and 87.3%, respectively. Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines have OTP rates of 86.2% and 84.5%, respectively. Vietjet Air is the airline with the lowest on-time performance rate of 81.2%.

In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnamese airlines recorded 29,506 delayed flights, accounting for 14.8%; 646 canceled flights, accounting for 0.3%. Vietjet Air and Pacific Airlines had the highest delay rates at 18.8% and 15.5%. Vietnam Airlines, Vietravel and Vasco recorded delay rates of 13.8%, 12.8% and 9.5%, respectively. Among domestic airlines, Bamboo Airways recorded the lowest delay rate in the industry at 7.3%.

According to statistics, the main causes of flight delays include: Equipment and services at the Port; flight management and operations; airlines; weather; late aircraft arrivals and other reasons. Of which, late aircraft arrivals are the main cause of delayed flights during this period.

According to the Department's data, the cancellation rate of the entire aviation industry during this period was 0.3%. Among the three largest domestic airlines, Bamboo Airways also had the lowest rate with 0.2% of flights canceled.

The aviation industry is making efforts to implement solutions to expand operations to meet market demand. Since the beginning of the year, airlines have continuously implemented plans to restore domestic flight networks, open new international routes connecting key markets, increase capacity to serve peak periods, and strive for growth targets in the context of the entire industry recording positive signs of recovery.

Although there are still more than 5 months until Lunar New Year, airlines have recently opened ticket sales for Tet to meet the travel demand during the peak period of the year. Vietnam Airlines Group (including 3 airlines Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vasco) plans to provide 3 million seats (15,000 flights) on the entire domestic and international flight network, in the period from January 25, 2024 to February 24, 2024 (ie December 15, Quy Mao year to January 15, Giap Thin year). Of which, the airline will provide 2 million seats (10,300 flights) for the domestic network, and more than 1 million seats (4,650 flights) for the international network. Vietjet Air said it will provide 2.5 million tickets for the entire flight network.

Meanwhile, Bamboo Airways said it plans to provide hundreds of thousands of seats across its entire flight network and continue to increase flights based on the ability to arrange take-off and landing times at airports, the service capacity of airport service providers, as well as passenger demand. Routes with high travel demand that will be focused on increasing flights are the main routes Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City/Da Nang, the separate routes Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa/Hai Phong/Vinh/Dong Hoi..., as well as local routes from Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku... The airline also arranges to increase the frequency of tourist flights to Phu Quoc, Cam Ranh, Da Nang, Quy Nhon..., serving the travel demand during Tet./.
