The Asian Championship is the most important playground for Vietnamese shooting in the journey towards the 2024 Paris Olympics, so the team sent the strongest force with 11 shooters, including names such as Trinh Thu Vinh, Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh, Phan Cong Minh, Ha Minh Thanh, Phan Xuan Chuyen, Le Thi Mong Tuyen or Phi Thanh Thao, ... led by Korean expert Park Chung-gun.

On the first official competition day (January 8), Vietnamese shooters competed in the important events of the men's 10m air pistol and women's 10m air pistol to seek tickets to the Olympics but were unsuccessful, including Asian Games champion Pham Quang Huy, who only ranked 26th with 572 points in the men's 10m air pistol.
However, on the second day of competition on January 9, Pham Quang Huy and the first Vietnamese shooter to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics - Trinh Thu Vinh won the gold medal in the mixed 10m pistol doubles. On January 10, Le Thi Mong Tuyen excelled over her opponents to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics in the women's 10m air rifle event. In the final of this event, the girl born in 2003 from Ho Chi Minh City made history when she excellently won 125.9 points, ranked fourth to qualify for the Olympics.

On the competition day of January 13, the trio of Ha Minh Thanh, Phan Xuan Chuyen, and Vu Tien Nam won a silver medal in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol team event. Closing the tournament in Indonesia, the Vietnamese shooting team won another silver medal in the men's 25m standard pistol team event. In this event, Ha Minh Thanh, Phan Xuan Chuyen, and Vu Tien Nam scored a total of 1,679 points, behind India (who won the gold medal) with a total of 1,690 points.
At the end of the 2024 Asian Championship, the Vietnamese shooting team won 1 gold medal and 2 silver medals along with an official ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics in the women's 10m air rifle event from the competition results of shooter Mong Tuyen.
Thus, Mong Tuyen has become the first athlete in the rifle category to win a ticket to the Olympics. This is also the second ticket for Vietnamese shooting (previously, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh qualified in the women's 10m air pistol category at the World Championships last August) and the fourth ticket for Vietnamese sports besides cycling and swimming.
