Double the pressure, ten times the effort
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, officer of Phan Dinh Phung Ward Public Administration Center ( Thai Nguyen City). |
When testing the new model, the workload increased many times. Not only was there an increase in the number of records, but there was also the pressure to ensure speed and accuracy when population data from old wards was merged.
We are getting acquainted with a modern public administration center, where every process is geared towards digitalization. This requires each officer to handle professional work, quickly master technology, and explain and guide the unfamiliar people. The challenge is huge, but I always keep in mind that people's satisfaction is the only measure of work efficiency. The pressure may be double, but our efforts and determination to serve must be ten times greater.
The thinking of commune officials must approach the district level.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tiep, civil servant of Justice - Civil status of Tan Tu commune (Bach Thong district, Bac Kan province). |
Merging communes is an inevitable policy to make the apparatus more streamlined and operate more effectively. This is an opportunity to upgrade the grassroots cadres. Now, we cannot just work in the old way but must think like a "miniature district cadre" - more professional in our work and more proactive in advising.
To meet that requirement, I proactively spent time studying legal documents in depth and attending courses to improve digital skills. Because I understand that, in the new context, people need a judicial officer who not only has a firm grasp of the law, but also has the ability to advise and answer complex legal issues arising from mergers. This is how we, the young, embrace change.
Change is an opportunity to reinvent yourself.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Nhan, Office of Trung Thanh Ward Party Committee (Pho Yen City). |
I used to work at the Ward People's Committee Office, now I'm transferred to the Party Committee Office. The job rotation after the merger made me somewhat confused. Although I had experience working in an office, I still determined to learn from the beginning, because the scale and nature of the work were now different.
I see this as an opportunity to renew myself. The restructuring of the apparatus is not only a correct policy of the superiors, but also a necessary "push" for each individual to reflect on themselves, improve their skills and adapt to an administrative environment that increasingly requires professionalism and versatility.
Turn management experience into service efficiency at the grassroots level
Mr. Duong Van Hong, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Song Cong City, has now transferred to be the officer in charge of the One-Stop Department of Song Cong Ward. |
If in my previous position, my role was to advise on the digital transformation of Song Cong City, now I have to directly organize the implementation of this task at the One-Stop Department - which is considered the face of the government, the most important contact point with the people.
The biggest challenge during this period was to quickly consolidate and standardize processes from old units, while still ensuring that the sudden increase in workload was handled. My confidence was built on a foundation of existing management experience, combined with in-depth professional knowledge that had just been trained. This was the basis for my colleagues and I to rebuild the operating process scientifically, assign tasks clearly, and maximize the application of technology to optimize performance.
Difficulties are only temporary
Ms. Ly Thi Hong, civil servant of Land Administration - Agriculture and Forestry, Xuan Duong commune (Na Ri district, Bac Kan province). |
The day I returned to work after maternity leave was also the day I received the decision to move to a new commune office, more than 10km away from home on a steep mountain pass. Honestly, it was a big challenge when my child was so young. Every morning I went to work earlier, every afternoon I came home later, the journey became more difficult.
But I clearly determined that my difficulties were only temporary, while my responsibility and mission to serve the people were long-term. People in remote villages after the merger faced even more difficulties when doing administrative procedures. Therefore, my efforts would contribute to helping the new apparatus operate smoothly, so that people could feel the government's care. That was the motivation for me to overcome all obstacles.
Everywhere is service
Mr. Duong Gia Thai, former Deputy Director of the Information Technology - Information Center, Office of the People's Committee of Bac Kan province, has now transferred to work at the commune level. |
Moving from working at the provincial level to the commune level may be a "step back" for many people. But for me, this is a choice to contribute more directly and substantially. Any environment is to serve, any level is to serve the people.
The biggest challenge is not in the position, but in changing the mindset to truly “touch” the people’s problems. I believe that if we work with a dedicated, open-minded and responsible attitude, no matter where we are, we will create true values and receive the trust of the people. That is the greatest success of a cadre...
