V-League Rankings: The Cong Viettel flies high

The V-League rankings after round 3 have been fully determined, after The Cong Viettel defeated Becamex TP.HCM in the match that took place on the evening of August 30 at Hang Day Stadium.

At home, The Cong Viettel easily took all 3 points against the visiting team Becamex TP.HCM thanks to goals from Pedro Henrique and Bui Tien Dung. Becamex TP.HCM could only withstand the pressure of the home team in the first half, before collapsing after the break due to the diverse attacks of The Cong Viettel.

In the 58th minute, Khuat Van Khang crossed the ball for Pedro Henrique to head the ball in front to open the score. Six minutes later, Truong Tien Anh's extremely flexible cross opened up an opportunity for Bui Tien Dung to head into the far corner of the goal, doubling the gap for The Cong Viettel. After that, despite creating many opportunities, coach Velizar Popov's team only won with a final score of 2-0.

The victory over Becamex TP.HCM helped The Cong Viettel climb to third place with 7 points, goal difference +5. Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club) also has 7 points and goal difference +5, but ranked second due to scoring more goals than The Cong Viettel (8 goals compared to 6 goals). Leading is still Ninh Binh FC with 9 full points, goal difference +8.

At the bottom of the table, there are 4 teams that have yet to taste victory and all have only 1 point, which are Hanoi (ranked 11th), Da Nang (ranked 12th), HAGL (ranked 13th) and Thanh Hoa (ranked 14th). This result is surprising, as Hanoi Club is a candidate for the championship, having finished second last season, while Thanh Hoa is a former National Cup champion.

The teams will take a 2-week break for the Vietnam national team and U.23 Vietnam to gather, before returning in mid-September with a series of matches in round 4.
