After the match against Burnley ended, a spectator filmed Amorim shaking hands with the opposing coach Scott Parker and then his student Joshua Zirkzee, before heading straight into the tunnel. Meanwhile, the remaining MU players were still enjoying the joy of victory and forgot about the Portuguese coach.

This moment quickly created controversy on social media. Many fans thought that Amorim could not be happy when witnessing his students' performance against a Burnley team that was not highly rated.

"Amorim looks depressed, is he trying to leave MU?", a fan wrote on X. Another account commented: "Fans themselves cannot accept this performance, let alone Amorim". Another fan commented: "Maybe Amorim knows the day to say goodbye to MU is near".

After the shock defeat in the League Cup second round against Grimsby in midweek, rumours arose within United that Amorim could leave during the international break, regardless of the result against Burnley. The victory on August 30 temporarily eased those worries, but the unease has not disappeared.

British media also reported that some of MU's key players have lost faith in Amorim's persistence with the 3-4-3 system, which is considered unsuitable for the current personnel in Manchester.

Mainoo's reaction when he was continuously crossed out On the night of August 24, Kobbie Mainoo bowed his head in disappointment because he was not allowed to play when MU was held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham in round 2 of the 2025/26 Premier League.
