VTC News online newspaper continuously updates the latest World Cup 2026 rankings according to the FIFA website. As of now, the rankings of the teams in Group C are as follows.

The top two teams in each group and the eight best third-placed teams will qualify for the Round of 16.
In the event of a tie in points among multiple teams in the group stage, the tie-breaking criteria used for ranking are head-to-head performance (calculated separately based on points, goal difference, and the number of goals scored in direct matches between the tied teams). If two teams are tied in all of the above criteria, the organizers will consider the goal difference and the total number of goals scored in all three matches.
When all other tie-breaking criteria are irrelevant, the teams are ranked according to their position on the latest FIFA World Rankings.

Scotland
Scotland are returning to the World Cup after a 28-year absence. They had previously participated in the tournament eight times (not counting the 1950 World Cup when Scotland withdrew) but had never progressed beyond the group stage.
Scotland topped Group C of the European qualifying round with 13 points (4 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss). They finished ahead of Denmark, Greece, and Belarus. Currently, Scotland is ranked 43rd in the FIFA rankings.

Haiti
The 2026 World Cup marks the second time in Haiti's history that they have appeared at the world's biggest football tournament (the first being in 1974). The team qualified through the third round of the North-Central America and Caribbean region in November 2025, finishing top of Group C with 11 points, ahead of Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.
Haiti is ranked 84th in the FIFA rankings. They are one of the two lowest-ranked teams to qualify for the 2026 World Cup (only ahead of New Zealand, ranked 85th in the world).

Oregon
Morocco caused a major surprise when they became the first African team in history to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2022. This year marks the 7th time (and the 3rd consecutive time) that the team nicknamed "The Atlas Lions" has participated in the tournament.
Morocco qualified for the 2022 World Cup as the top team in Group E of the African qualifiers, having won all 8 matches, scoring 22 goals and conceding only 2.
This team is currently ranked 8th in the FIFA rankings.
