Việt NamViệt Nam02/09/2023

On the occasion of the 78th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023), Pasaxon (People) newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, published an article on September 1 with the title "Vietnam steadfastly pursues Independence - Freedom - Happiness".

The article begins by affirming that "Independence - Freedom - Happiness" are the most noble human rights stipulated in the UN Charter and the International Convention on Human Rights.

Because of those noble values, throughout history, progressive humanity, including the Vietnamese people, have not hesitated to sacrifice and struggle hard to achieve this.

The article quoted Vietnam as cherishing the value and achievements of the August Revolution. Not long after the country declared the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, on October 12, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 49 on writing the title: Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Year 1; below is Independence - Freedom - Happiness on official documents, telegrams, official dispatches, summonses, petitions, newspapers, wishes, etc. The six precious words Independence - Freedom - Happiness of Vietnam are written under the national name of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, embodying the aspirations of the entire nation, realizing the wish and will of "freedom for my compatriots, independence for my Fatherland" of President Ho Chi Minh.

The article said that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the efforts of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for national independence and reunification over many decades were aimed at ensuring that all Vietnamese people enjoy the fullest human rights, including the right to live in peace , independence and freedom and the right to self-determination of the destiny and development path of the Vietnamese people.

The article reiterates that in the historical Ho Chi Minh era, “Independence - Freedom - Happiness” of the Vietnamese people was not only an aspiration but also a priceless value system and became a way of life, an ideal of struggle and sacrifice that President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people steadfastly carried out.

It is that ideal, reason for living and belief that has led to a happy life, becoming the driving force for the Vietnamese people to unite under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam to win the August Revolution in 1945, the fight against foreign invaders and continue to build, protect and develop the country.

The article said that Vietnam is a country that has always steadfastly pursued the goal of national independence and socialism, following the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, "If the country is independent but the people do not enjoy happiness and freedom, then independence is meaningless."

This is reflected in the state institutions and the rights and obligations of citizens stipulated in the 1946 Constitution and the 1959 Constitution of Vietnam, showing that in the specific conditions of the country, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam has made efforts to enforce human rights according to the provisions of law.

The article wrote that after the General Offensive and Uprising in 1975, the country was reunified. The Vietnamese people lived in peace, independence and unity, moving towards socialism. The Vietnamese people continued to unite and work together under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam to overcome all difficulties after long years of war, restore and develop the economy, carry out the renovation and international integration.

Over the past 93 years since the Communist Party of Vietnam was born, 78 years since President Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam's independence, founded the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, and 37 years since Vietnam has persistently implemented innovation and deep international integration; Vietnam has achieved achievements in the fields of economy, culture, society, security, defense, etc., contributing to creating a new image and building a new position for Vietnam in the international arena.

The author of the article emphasized that currently, Vietnam's economy is growing strongly, there is much progress in the cultural and social fields, the material and spiritual life of Vietnamese people is increasingly improving, the face of the country and the lives of Vietnamese people have both changed significantly.

At the end of the article, Pasaxo newspaper affirmed that on that journey, the Party and State of Vietnam have made constant efforts so that every Vietnamese citizen can fully enjoy basic human rights, civil rights, and democratic rights of the people; at the same time, Vietnam is a country that always attaches importance to promoting international cooperation in the field of human rights on the basis of equality, respect and understanding between countries, including the good implementation of international commitments on human rights of which Vietnam is a member.
