Ensure that no epidemic or disease affects the "National Festival"

With the goal of ensuring absolute safety, not allowing any disease outbreaks to affect the health of people and tourists on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), activities to monitor epidemics and infectious diseases in the community have been strengthened.

The Hanoi Center for Disease Control (Hanoi Department of Health ) is focusing on implementing activities to monitor epidemics and infectious diseases in the community; especially high-risk groups such as dengue fever; hand, foot and mouth disease; seasonal flu and emerging infectious diseases.

Director of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC) Bui Van Hao said: As a professional agency, implementing the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Department of Health, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control has developed a plan to prevent and control the epidemic during the peak period, ready to serve the great celebration of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2.

According to the plan, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control will proactively monitor the development of epidemics and diseases in the area; strengthen early disease surveillance activities, focusing on risk groups such as dengue fever; hand, foot and mouth disease; seasonal flu; Covid-19 and emerging infectious diseases.

Strengthen the inspection and monitoring of water quality at water plants, water supply stations in the city, hotels, restaurants and places for delegates to eat and rest; especially the quality of drinking water from water supply facilities for the event, ensuring chemical, physical and microbiological indicators according to regulations.

Staff of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control check and monitor the quality of water for daily use.

Coordinate with relevant units to ensure environmental hygiene, spray chemicals to treat the environment, and kill insects in areas where activities take place, areas where many people gather to watch parades, marches, etc.; organize monitoring and take samples for testing to ensure food hygiene and safety, and prevent epidemics.

To effectively implement the above plan, the Center has directed the preventive medical network of communes and wards to strengthen community surveillance, promptly collect samples for testing when there are suspected cases; organize surveillance, general environmental sanitation, spray chemicals to kill mosquitoes in old epidemic areas... In particular, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control has established eight direct mobile teams, in the form of "Hand-holding" to support and guide on expertise and techniques for preventive medical network staff in disease prevention and control of 126 commune and ward health stations such as: epidemiological surveillance; surveillance of vectors (larvae, disease-transmitting mosquitoes) in old epidemic areas and high-risk areas.

Organize investigation, thoroughly isolate and handle areas with cases and outbreaks when they arise, ensuring that the epidemic does not spread widely in the area, especially ensuring epidemic prevention and control to serve A80 anniversary activities...

On the other hand, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control has prepared a sufficient amount of medicines, medical supplies and chemicals for epidemic prevention; is ready to activate 24/7 rapid response teams when required; and closely coordinates with local hospitals to ensure timely reception, triage and treatment, avoiding cross-infection. Especially during the A80 occasion, the Center has arranged staff to monitor the locations of major events, ready to provide emergency medical support and proactively protect public health.

Notably, although Vietnam has not recorded any cases of Chikungunya in the community, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control is closely coordinating with relevant units to strengthen early surveillance at the Noi Bai International Airport border gate to detect suspected cases at the border gate.

People should join hands with the health sector to raise awareness and responsibility for environmental protection; participate in activities and solutions to prevent and control epidemics deployed by the health sector in the community such as: cleaning houses; covering water containers to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs; organizing mosquito larvae extermination by releasing fish into large water containers; washing medium and small water containers, turning over containers that do not contain water; removing waste materials, natural water holes, etc.

If you have any unusual health symptoms such as fever, joint pain, rash, etc., you should go to a medical facility immediately for examination, consultation and timely treatment.
