In recognition of the great contributions of Bao Lam people in the resistance wars, the Party and State awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to four communes, including Loc Bac, Loc Lam, Loc Nam and Loc An.

In 1994, Bao Lam district was established, on the basis of separation from the old Bao Loc district, now Bao Loc city; with a natural area of over 146.2 thousand hectares, a population of over 62.2 thousand people, the whole district has 11 communes and 1 town. This is a historical milestone and an important premise opening a new period for Bao Lam to develop.

Up to now, the whole district has 13 communes, 1 town, population of more than 122.9 thousand people, including 31 ethnic groups living together. Average income per capita increased from 3.1 million VND in 1994 to more than 69 million VND in 2024; poor households in 1994 were 11.5%, of which ethnic minorities were 46.4%, by 2024 poor households decreased to 1.15%, poor households of ethnic minorities were 2.41%.
