The 2023-2025 Shining Vietnamese Values Contest, organized by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper in coordination with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, aims to encourage press works honoring collectives or individuals with deeds, actions, models and solutions to promote patriotism, national self-reliance, and arouse the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country; collectives or individuals with outstanding achievements in fields such as science - technology, education, health, culture - arts, sports, economics , national defense, security and order, volunteering, etc.; models, research and creative works that affirm the height of Vietnamese intelligence in national and international arenas; deeds and solutions that bring efficiency to society, are recognized and replicated.
The contest attracted the participation of many famous writers and a large number of union members, youth, students and pupils across the country. Many outstanding articles and video clips, with discovery, rich expression and strong influence, were selected to be published on the ecosystem of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper and the social networking platforms of the Central Youth Union.
2 years with 4 competition stages, more than 600 entries (articles and video clips) were presented in many journalistic genres such as: Reportage - notes, memoirs, reflections, interviews..., 263 published works, more than 2 million views... are impressive numbers for the journey of spreading positive values, outstanding factors in all fields.
Journalist Nguyen Khac Van, Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, Co-Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest affirmed: “There are many people in society who choose to give life as a way of life, or work hard to glorify the country and the good values of the Vietnamese people… Spreading good values is the starting idea and also the mission throughout the contest Shining Vietnamese Values”.
Following the entire journey of the contest, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tang Huu Phong commented: “The contest has a very positive value in social life. Typical characters, young faces, good stories are deeply and truthfully expressed in the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, bringing cool emotions to society. I firmly believe that this will create community inspiration, promote good actions, and bring better values to our country and people.”
Surpassing hundreds of entries, the 32 best entries (19 articles and 13 video clips) won the contest's award categories, including: 1 First Prize for articles (video clips did not have a First Prize), 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 26 Encouragement Prizes. In addition, the Unit with the most entries award went to Binh Dinh Provincial Youth Union with 70 entries.
In order to practically celebrate the 101st anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2026), the 51st anniversary of the first issue of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper (May 5, 1975 - May 5, 2026), Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper continues to coordinate with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to launch the 2025-2026 Shining Vietnamese Values Contest.
